Ever since Lux was a young child she loved the stories her mother would tell her. Her favourite was a true story. A Love story. Between two Pirate Captains.  It was the story of her parents.

It was early in Esther's, her mother's, career as Captain of The Starlight Pirates. The crew had been together for months, just a few weeks shy of a year. They had found treasures, fought pirates, and so much more. But this was their first big treasure hunt.

Yuuma, Esther's first mate, had come across a map, claiming to lead to a rather large stash. Full of berries, jewellery, gems, and whatever else a young pirate could think of. This treasure was one Esther and the rest of her crew were determined to claim.

But they hadn't been the only ones hot on the trail. In the seas The Starlight crew ran into another pirate ship. They had expected an attack at first. However the captain, a red haired man, instead proposed a wager upon realising they were headed to the same destination. Whichever crew reached the treasure first could keep it.

This was long before Esther and her crew had grown their confidence and skill in a fight, and so she agreed. And so the race was on.

The two crews reached the island almost at the same time, though the red haired man's ship had fallen shortly behind. Giving Esther the time to set her crew off on a plan.

There had only been one map to this treasure, and Yuuma had it. So as the rival crew's ship neared Esther sent off her crew ahead, splitting a few of them up to take a different route to the treasure, and some in the complete opposite direction.

Esther was the last to leave the ship, making sure that the captain saw her sneak off. He followed her, like she'd expected. But what she hadn't expected was for him to walk side by side with her, making casual conversation as if they weren't rival captains.

In that time Esther learned a lot about the man, Shanks. And, as the day went on, she let him know a little about her.

Only when it had gotten dark did Esther lead Shanks to the cave the treasure had been in. Though by the time they had reached it, most of the treasure was stored safely on her ship.

Shanks had taken the loss surprisingly well, or at least it would have been surprising had Esther not gotten to know him a little in the past few hours.

So as Esther began to make her way out of the cave, to leave him to pick up what little she ordered the crew to leave him, when she had spotted two almost identical rings, minus the two different gem colours, she paused. She picked them up, turning around, and throwing one to him.
