It was 1976, I had what I would see as the perfect life; I worked out, had good grades, a job, a boyfriend, and seemingly a perfect life ahead of me. How how wrong that statement would be

It was prom night, my long brown hair was straightened, and I was getting ready to put on my dress that was passed down from my mother. The dress was practically glowing in the light, the lightblue fabric looked like the mid-day sky accented by my new gold necklace with a rose pendant hanging from the bottom of the chain. It was all perfect, I had my dress, my date and 30 minutes until I would be picked up.

I was just about to step into my dress when there was a tap on my window. "Must just be bugs hitting the window" I thought to myself and that would have made sense if the tapping didn't continue louder and louder till it grew to a knock. Tap Tap Tap... Tap Tap Tap. It wouldn't stop, it was becoming aggravating at this point. I had thrown on a pair of shorts and a loose shirt before approaching the window in the case there was somebody out there.

I walked over to the window, sliding the window open I speak out "anyone out there?" No response was heard, no surprise there as I was on the second story of my home. I decided to look out the window to see if there was anyone on the ground, leaning out the window I look right then left then back right, no one there. I shrug it off and retreat into the window but before my head made it into the window, I felt a hand cover my mouth and a sharp blade press against my neck, within the heat of the moment I begin to scratch at the hand only causing the blade to go deeper into my throat as I scream out for help, but no one responded. The hand begins to pull me out the window dragging me across the roof scratching up my arms while doing so before throwing me to the ground from the second story roof of my home. My body hit the ground with a loud thud. My body ached as my eyes slowly blinked shut, I watched as a pair of black boots such as the ones regularly used for biking jump from the roof and land in front of me.

That was all I remembered before it all turned black. I remember waking up in my bed thinking it was all just a nightmare, that was until I saw the open window and dress laying on the back of my chair sitting in front of my vanity. "If it wasn't a dream then how am I here?" I found myself asking that question to the empty room that looked like mine but didn't seem like mine.

Looking over at the digital alarm clock sitting on my bedside I noticed I still had time to get ready for prom, getting up I was just stepping into my prom dress when I heard it, Tap Tap Tap. The same sound that caused my horror, that's when it hit me... I was dead. My whole life I was told ghost live in loops, constantly reliving the scene of their death. I found myself drawn to repeat the same events that caused my death. I remembered it but somehow, I was unable to break this force pulling me towards the window causing me to repeat the same scene.
