Every good story should end on a well written note!
For certain stories it depends on if the ending will be sweet or bittersweet.
For example, my chapter endings vary! They've so far been all sweet, but trust me, they won't all be!
Some endings will sting, some won't.
Go with the flow of your story to decide a fitting ending! Reread the story before hand, revise, fix things, adjust certain things that you feel need adjustment, then add a conclusion!
To wrap up the story as a whole, do a full reread and revision! I often do this by viewing the story as if I were a reader! It usually helps me find little inconsistency and what not which I can then fix and adjust! ^w^
