"Do you have the last 3 answers for the review? I wasn't able to figure them out." I ask Alex during Homeroom. Matt sat at the other side of the table doing his own work from a different class.

"Yeah, let me get it out." Alex says as he opens his binder and slides it over to me.

"Thanks." I say with a smile and copy the last 3 answers trying my best to reword them so they aren't the exact same. As I pass back the sheet to Alex, Joanna sits in the seat next to Alex and smiles widely.

"Hi Alex! Hey Matthew" She says in an annoying high pitch voice. Joanna is Alex's girlfriend. I'm not a huge fan but Alex seems happy so it doesn't really matter what I think.

"It's Matt." Matt mumbles under his breath. Matt isn't a fan of her either.

"Y/N" She says with a forced smile. I smile back sarcastically.

"Joanna." I say looks back at Alex.

"So, Alex I was wondering if we could go to that concert at the amphitheater tomorrow?" She asks Alex.

"Oh uh I thought I already said that me and Y/N were planning on hanging out tomorrow evening." Alex said to Joanna who looked very displeased.

"Oh well you can hang out later, can you get the tic-"

"Joanna, we already planned on hanging out a few days ago and I told you. We can go to the concert a different time. They are doing it multiple times this month."

"So your girlfriend is not as important as y/n? Great to know where I stand." I was trying not to get involved as this was none of my business but now she's guilt trapping Alex.

"Joanna that's not fair, they have another show Friday. You and Al could go then but we already had this planned out and he told you. You seemed fine with it then." I say to Joanna with furrowed eyebrows.

"I'm sorry, I don't remember anyone asking for your opinion?" She said with her arms crossed over her chest. I scoffed as she spoke again.

"Also, it's Alex not Al."

"I think it's Alex's decision what he is comfortable with me to calling him. You don't own him you know." I say starting to get more aggravated. Matt sinks into his seat as the argument brewed.

"Can you believe she is talking to me like this? Come one let's move." Joanna said picking up her books. Alex just looks at Matt and me. Joanna stands up and moves to a different table. Alex started collecting his books.

"I'm sorry can we hang out a different day?" Alex asks not looking at me. I look up at him in slight disbelief.

"Alex are you kidding me? You're gonna go after how she just treated you?"

"It's not that big of a deal y/n, I'll see you guys later." He says moving over to where Joanna is sitting.

"Bitch." I mumble and Matt moves to the seat next to mine.

"Nick and I were gonna go to the carnival this evening would you want o join?" Matt asks, trying to make up for Alex's absence.

"No, it's fine. You and Nick have fun. I should probably study for the biology test anyways. Thanks though." I say. He nods and the teacher walks to the front of the room and starts teaching.

In the middle of her teaching, I can feel a pair of eyes on me. I look to my right and Joanna is staring right at me. I roll my eyes and look back at the teacher and she continues to look at me. After class I was walking out when Joanna bumped past me hitting my shoulder into the door frame. Luckily it wasn't strong enough for me to fumble or anything but it still hurt. I had enough and followed her to her locker.

"What is your problem?" I ask her and she looks at me with her arms crossed, head high, and her chest puffed up.

"That fact that you're all over my boyfriend. I mean he's obviously not into you because, well, look at you." She says with a laugh and a smirk. I look at her with a quirked eyebrow.

"You sound like a middle schooler. And for the record I am not "all over him". Wanting to hang out doesn't mean I'm trying to steal him from you." I say back to her.

She opens her locker and takes some strawberry lace out of the wrapper and bites it.

"I would offer you some but, by the looks of it, you don't need any." She says looking me up and done with a smirk.

"How could you say that?" Alex comes up from behind me and steps in front of me, obviously hearing what she said.

"What? I mean you know you agree." She says to him.

"You have no right to speak to her or anyone that way. Why do you compare everyone to you? Are you so bitter that you need to make others feel bad about themselves to make you feel better about yourself? I don't think I can do this anymore. C'mon y/n." Alex says turning around. Alex knew I had struggled with my self image causing some struggles with eating disorders. Joanna tried calling Alex back and apologizing but he ignored her. He walked to my locker and he leaned against the locker next to mine.

"Y/n, I'm so sorry she had no right to speak to you that way and everything she said is not true. I apologize if she has said any of that before, are you ok?" He says as I open my locker.

"I'm fine, thanks for sticking up for me, I appreciate it." I say with a small smile. Alex leans over and closes my locker.

"I think we need milkshakes and fries, my treat." He says offering his hand. I smile and take his hand.

"That sounds like a good plan." I say with a smile.
