That's a good question my friend! To kill a stand (or rather its user) you need either a very powerful stand ability to defeat it, or a weapon that directly counters your stand. For example, my stand Star Platinum is extremely powerful but it is weak against water and wind. So if I were to get trapped under water or surrounded by intense winds, I could be killed.
