Four and Eight set up camp in the forest, Four was on look out as Eight slept. He was alone with his thoughts, thinking about Two mainly. He missed his sibling but now they're going to get revenge, and hopefully bring Two back. Four didn't know who he thought the murderer could be. I mean, no one really had enemies at the playground. Except for Four, he didn't get along with a lot of people but his "enemies" also had people they cared about die too. It confused them. Two wasn't liked by basically everyone. Four remembered the day when everyone found out that Two didn't like maths. Two was basically kicked out from the equation playground, and the news spread to Integer City so they couldn't go anywhere. Four had also shunned Two and still feels guilty about it now, but eventually Four let Two stay in their house. Off the streets and living a somewhat normal life, however Two never went out. They avoided all social interaction other than with Four, which made Two sort of clingy to their brother. Four felt a pang of grief, if they didn't find a way to bring them all back Four can never make up for all the horrible things they said and did to Two. They could never hug or hang out with their sibling again. Some tears fell down Four's cheek and he laid his head on his legs. Gloom tugged at his heart, what if they couldn't fix this.
Eight crawled out of his make-shift shelter. "Hey Four, you go to sleep. I'll be on lookout now." Four just nodded and crawled into the shelter space. Although he didn't completely trust Eight, he needed sleep and didn't expect Eight to be able to get away with all these murders. Eight doesn't handle guilt well and ends up just confessing things randomly.
Four closed his heavy eyes and drifted off to sleep.
Four blinked, it was a sunny day. Two was surrounded by a crowd of angry algebraliens.
"What's happening here?" Four asked Seven.
"Two said they don't like maths! How could they?" Seven grumbled.
Four turned to see Two's face, a mix of guilt and dismay in their eyes as the two siblings locked eyes. Four felt an impulse of shock and anger within him. "You what! how could you not?" He found himself screaming.
"Wait Four! Let me explain okay? It's just, I feel like I'm forced to like it, I want to choose what I like for myself and-" Two was cut off by Four's hand smacking them. Two held their cheek and looked up at Four in shocked silence, a few small tears formed in their eyes.
"What. You don't like maths, that means you don't like us. Maths is our whole existence Two! It's the reason we are here! We need to like it!" Four yelled.
"But I don't! And this is why. I can't just like or dislike it freely, I have to like it just because we are numbers!" Two screamed.
"Leave."
"Wait... what?"
"I said leave. It would be best for everyone if you weren't here."
Two's appalled eyes stared directly into Four's, making him regret it slightly. However, the small hit of guilt didn't move Four too much as they just stood watching Two sob and walk away from the playground along with everyone else. Four stood with the others next to him, but suddenly he felt lonely and out of place.
Four jolted awake. Why would he dream of that, why would his brain bring back the guilt. "Hey Four, we have a visitor." Eight stated. It was morning, the light filtered in through the sticks and leaves that made and held the camp.
Four exited the area and saw Five standing there. Four stood up "Five."
"Four." She greeted him.
"So, what are you here for?"
"I want to join your journey, I was collecting berries the other day for a pie and overheard you talking. Since Ten died I..." Five's voice cracked. They collected themself before continuing, "I want to avenge them, we were such close friends. I miss them."
Eight shrugged, "yeah, the more the merrier I suppose."
"Wait, Ten died?" Four asked.
"Yeah, right after. Oh infinity, Four I'm sorry. You must not know but X died aswell, just before Ten." Five twiddled their thumbs.
Four sat down and looked at the floor in dismay. Eight was staring at Five's face, he was in shock. X was gone, Fours best friend. Now not only was their sibling gone, but the one person they could trust anything with. Memories of the two swam through Four's mind. Four felt nothing but Anguish. How were they meant to go on when the two people they cared about were gone, and they can't be brought back. How was Four expected to live on with this fact? And their deaths were due to another person, probably gruesome and painful.
This despair quickly morphed, however. Four stood up and clenched their fists in a ball. He raised his shoulders and felt fire swim through his veins. Four was filled with rage, there was no way the murderer would get away with it.
