"Did you find him?" Ophelia asked as she ran up to Alex, slightly out of breath. They might have to call a code pink, and that wouldn't be good.

"No. Bailey!" Alex said, seeing Bailey rush out of a room with the head of security, "You need to call a Code Pink now."

"We're not there yet, Karev!" Bailey insisted, rushing to keep up with his fast pace.

"The kid's hiding. It happens all the time." The security head said.

"Dad's got anger issues. Custody battle with huge fught this morning. If he took the kid-" Ophelia tried to argue.

"Statistically speaking, that's not what happened-" He interrupted. Ophelia's eyebrows raised.

"Not to mention, our patient's infection puts him at risk for an airway obstruction if we don't find him right away." Alex said, cutting off the guy, slightly glaring at him.

"Attention, Gage Dean, please return to your room." The woman on the PA said, calling out the kid's name, "Attention Gage Dean."

"Are you kudding me with that?" Alex said, stopping in the middle of the peds ward, hands on hips, "He's six. He's not listening to announcements.

"But I bet you his dad is, which means you just scared the guy into moving even faster." Ophelia practically shouted at the guy.

"I don't think you understand how a Code Pink disrupts this facility, sweetheart." The head of security said, "All automatic doors lock. Elevators stop functioning."

"Good! It'll stop the dad." Alex protested.

"No, it'll potentially put patients in danger." Bailey protested. She seemed against the idea of the elevators being turned off, something Ophelia found strange.

"There is a kid who's in danger." Alex pointed out, "and the longer we stand here debating this, he's getting further away."

"Code Pink is a nuclear option." The guy said, "Just let my guys look around for a little bit."

Alex sighed, before turning to Bailey, "What if it was Tuck?" He asked.

She looked at him for a moment, weighing her options, "Call it." She said finally, turning back to the security guy.

"You sure you wanna pull the trigger on this?" He asked her, "Sounding the alarm? Initiating a lockdown?"

"Yes, now!"

"She's sure!"

"God, your gender is so stupid sometimes." Ophelia mumbled to Alex as he stepped back beside her. He laughed lightly, agreeing with her.

"Hey. She's calling it." The security guy said into his phone. Suddenly, the alarms blared, a soft but loud, infrequent hum.

A while later, a security guard and Gage's mom was standing with them. "I just a description of your husband, ma'am."

"Ex-husband." She corrected.

"I know the guy. I'm just going to start loo-" Alex said.

"The only way to get through those doors right now us with one of these badges." He pointed to a badge that he wore, and Ophelia noticed that the security guard also had one, "My men will fan out from peds. They'll take it room by room. We've got it handled- Dr. Karev!"

Alex had grabbed the security guard's badge and Ophelia's arm, pulling her along with him.

"Out of my way, Cross!" He said, pushing the intern out of the way and opening the doors.

"No one came through here with a kid, right?" Ophelia asked, stopping Alex at a room that Jo was in, "Six, green shirt?"

"I don't think so, but we're kinda slammed." Jo replied, "I've got these other kids from the accident. I-I don't know-"

"Bailey should've called this thing earlier." Alex complained.

"Hey! He's probably just hiding somewhere." Jo assured them, "That's what kids do, right?"

"Yeah, right." Alex said, rushing off, Ophelia following quickly after.

They were now at the main reception, and they started going up the stairs, when Alex stopped just before they reached the top. Going back a few steps and bending down, he caught sight of some eyes peering at him through the gaps.

And then someone bumped into Ophelia, causing her to fall down the stairs.
