The world is a vortex of many components, consisting of sins, good deeds, holy, unholy, happy, sad, anger, nothing and everything. And when the equilibrium of such components start breaking, the libra of balance won't be able to hold. As such, the equilibrium of the world was broken by the out-of-hand sins of the people. People who are pretentious, just, happy, angry, sad, killers, sophisticated, messy, haters- all kinds. And somehow, they all were sinful in their own way, something the scale of the world could not hold. Forming unpatchable cracks in the walls of dimension, allowing the otherworldly being-no. The mindless otherworldly beasts to enter the surface of the earth, a place so peaceful for the bloodthirsty baboons that they couldn't hold back the laughter of evil from roaring the earth.

The mother nature and the cosmics were apologetic, apologetic that they couldn't do their job right. And apologetic they should be for many were killed in the rampage but as luck would have it, the cracks were irreparable. Leaving fighting as their only option.

"And that was how Espers came to be."

Like a god sent help, to push back the monsters, to kill them and to save humans.

"Nothing comes without a price though."

As he walks on the edge of the roof, dancing to the wind's song. Inhaling the toxic air of his cigarette, he smiled to the moon.

Espers were people who were granted the super natural powers to fight off the monsters. Being assigned a rank from birth and working on missions accordingly. Unfortunately, every good side has a downside. Over usage of an Esper's powers lead to- destruction. An Esper could eventually lose their mind and go on Rampage. An actual term for the berserk form they take, how their powers go out of control and how only a Guide can help them.

Not all rampages can be stopped, many lead to execution due to the danger they pose and the low chances of recovery. That is why, every Esper is assigned to a Guide to receive guidance in order to regulate their powers and not go on rampage.

He stood at the roof of the Armed Esper company, one of the major cooperation responsible for the front lines. Responsible for the safety of the citizens and swamped with emergency mission. Unfortunately, not a lot of guides applied for work in front lines which lead to the shortage of it. But why would that be an issue for him? So what if he's a Guide? People live everyday and people die everyday. And he? He was something somewhere in between deciding whether to live or die- until he heard-

"You know that A ranked Esper? She causes such destruction even though her rank is low!"

The dead in his eyes glint at the voice of chaos. The red siren horned again in the office as the alert of a boundary invasion sounded loudly. He couldn't help but find intrigue in the earlier heard rumours, a part of his brain said- "would a selfish Esper be useful? Especially when she is just A ranked?"

And here he was, finding a solace for his curiosity in the middle of destruction. He was a man known for his high demanded guidance. Yes, Dazai Osamu, a 26 year old with a Rank S guide labelled on him. With a bleak history of horror, Dazai no longer found it to be his obligation to help Espers or Guidance or- people. He helped who he felt like and yet, his high rank granted him the leverage of all kinds. Therefore, while his safety is a measure of question but his attitude didn't exactly grant him the protection for it. He shouldn't even be here- in middle of dangerzone where Espers fought and lost their lives.

Injured bodies laid there, some lifeless, some squirming and yet, his eyes felt pity for none. He watched as some fell in the arms of their bonded guides, to share one last kiss of parting or to recharge up their Esper energy. It was then- his eyes landed on her. There was no free guide running to aid her, some seemed happy at her injury and some seemed more scared of her than the monster she was about to encounter.

She coughed up a lump of blood as she took the hit to protect the guides that does not seem to care for her well-being. But she did. Guides were low in number, especially near dangerzone and- majority of them were bonded with lovers so they won't be able to guide others unless their partner were to die. "Get out of here! You can cry over the dead fucking later! This is not the place!" She yelled at them, seeming to run out of the patience. She called for backup, only to hear that she won't be able to get help for an hour but-.. the area she is assigned to didn't have many Espers. Majority of them were Guides, not trained to fight.

And She was- low on Esper energy. All of the guides near her were bonded or hated her, no one wanted to share energy with her. "ungrateful-!'' She cursed under breath. Trying to figure out how to protect the people that she hated or how to gain more energy.

Then the subtle hint of energy hit her nose, the subtle scent being so strong it jolt her awake. "Do you need a hand, Ms. Rank A?" A bad start. The brunette had the worst way of making impression on her, she hated her rank. Y/n was the type that lived for winning but it was her own Rank that she couldn't defeat. Rank A, strong but not the strongest. One of the top but not the top. And the way his tone spoke to her so honey-sweetly, it rubbed her the wrong way. It felt like he was mocking her

She didn't like him but his energy. It made her want to buckle down, drown in that comforting energy and right now? She needed that energy more than anything.

"A guide... Approaching me...?" She asked, cautiously. And in return he giggled, almost enjoying her futile attempts to look strong. "Rank S, Dazai Osamu at your service. You need my help to defeat that thing right ?" He pointed at the monster behind her. "and I gladly offer it to you." He said, walking towards her in a proud glee. Being almost freaked out by his introduction, she took a step back in surprise. "wow! Hold up! Rank S? Aren't you that one guide that freeloads and never helps Espers?" Y/n asked, offendingly. To which he counters snarkily. "And you're the Esper that never accepts any guidance? The one all the guides are afraid of?"

The monster growled from behind, almost making her knees buckle and fall as she tried to steady herself. To her surprise, Dazai was not shaken, instead he was helping her stand steady again. The mere touch of his skin against her skin felt electrifying, hot- scorching and yet- soothing, solace in hell and like a bite to a soft chocolate ice cream. Y/n almost melted into his touch when he held onto her arms. "Okay fine, the situation is dire. I am the only Esper that can fight and save us and you're the only Guide that is willing to guide me." Resisting the blissful sensation from his touch, she grabbed onto his collar(more like held onto it for support.) She pulled him closer, glaring at him. "Be quick, Mister Guide." Dazai that was a thirst quenched lad at the moment, grinned enthusiastically in front of his new source of entertainment. "Be as quick as a gust of wind, m'lady Esper."

Capturing her bleeding lips with his smooth ones, he poured an enormous amount of energy that a Rank A Esper could hardly handle, as if grinning into the kiss, he knew what he was doing. Deepening the kiss to do the emergency energy transference. With each stroke and tug of his lips, Y/n felt more and more energized. To a point she didn't know what to do with so much energy. Overflowing and- after a point she had not realised that this sneaky Guide was just kissing her and not transferring energy. Which lead to her angrily biting his lips, ruining the smoothened nature of his lips and bruising it to match hers, she pushed him away from her. But much to Y/n annoyance, he stumbled but didn't fall, his shit-eating grin didn't disappear. "Do your job right. I might just mistake you for one of the monsters and blow you into pieces." Dazai had only just pleasingly whistled as he saw her disappear into chaos, defeating one monster after another.

If y/n had known that the "Kiss of life" would cost her so much of her sanity over the coming year, she would've decided to die on the battle field that day.
