Thudding was heard down the hallway as Touka woke up. Confused, she looked around to see what was making the sound. Looking over to where Kaneki should be, she soon realised he wasn't there. "What?" She whispered to herself, and got up out of bed to look for him. Her feet pressed against the cold wooden floor of the hallway, as she sighed and opened Hinami's door. She was gone too... Suddenly Touka began to panic, as she ran into the coffee shop area of the house. Not there either, but the door was smashed. The worst thoughts started to flood the young girls mind, her stomach churned as she pictured what could've happened. A robbery. The CCG. Anything. Running back into her room, she grabbed her clothes and got changed as fast as she could. As soon as she was ready, she sprinted out the door and stopped, looking around. Footsteps were leading from Anteiku, they seemed to go in the direction of an abandoned building which had been left for years. But she hesitated before following them; what if it was a trap? She shook her head and proceeded to run along the footstep path, thinking of Kaneki and Hinami. She would be willing to give up anything for either of them, and she was sure they would too. She came to the doorway of the building, which was already open. Stepping forwards into the building she soon realised it was extremely dark and couldn't see anything. But she could hear voices. The sounded far away, but she followed them until they were now audible. It sounded like a man. And then there was another voice; it was a female one. She crouched down, now being able to see them through the cracked sunlight that came through a small gap of the wall. The two voices were now visible as a rather tall dark haired man, and a shorter blonde haired female, who had two braids in her hair. Kaneki nor Hinami were not there though... She crawled forwards towards the two people who were just in sight, trying to keep quiet and eavesdrop. "The boy is upstairs. 'Eyepatch' as they call him..." The man spoke, looking down at his 'accomplice' as Touka had figured out for now.

Then she froze. 'Eyepatch'. Kaneki! Getting up, she ran to the stairs leading up to where he apparently was, not stopping to get her breath. Footsteps were heard behind her as they began to get louder and louder. They heard her and were on a chase. "Piss off!" She yelled, running along the second floor, skidding slightly on the corner. It was like a labyrinth. Endless rooms. It must've been a hotel or something before it became abandoned. Touka tried to open the first door, but it was jammed. Second door, opened. She ran into the room and closed the door, leaving it in total darkness as she shuffled backwards behind something that she made out to be a cupboard. Panting, she began to catch her breath, and then thought for a moment. Where could they be? What room are they in? Are they in danger? Tears soon filled up her eyes in the thought of them in danger. Hearing the footsteps come closer, she saw a door slowly open, exposing the rest of the room but luckily keeping her hiding place shadowed. She could only just see that it was the man, followed by the woman. "She's not here... Is she in room 53?" The woman questioned, closing the door. Their voices began to trail off as they began to move away again, and Touka got up. 53. That's where they were.

Slamming the door open, Touka frantically scanned the room for Hinami and Kaneki. There were two more doors in the back of the room, but she could also see a light switch. Making her way to the light, she could hear talking. It was not the two who were chasing her. Switching the light on, she saw the two doors, both white in colour with a silver handle. Placing her hand on the first door, she turned the handle, and swung the door open. Then she saw something she didn't want to see. Kaneki was inside a large crate cage thing; it was metal with bars surrounding it, clearly cramped up and too small. Falling to her knees, Touka grabbed the bars of the 'cage' and felt tears run down her face. "Ka-Kaneki..." She cried, seeing he was unconscious. "KANEKI!" She screeched, shaking the bars. He moved his head and opened his eyes slowly; he had awoken. But he looked weak, very weak. "Touka." He rasped, a smile began to spread on his face. "Please, help me.." He tried to sit up but he couldn't, his arms were tied together along with his feet. Touka's eyes were flooding with tears as she soon realised how helpless she was. She couldn't do anything but sit there and cry in shame. It wasn't fair... It's never fair. She looked around for a key, or something to wedge open the top of the cage. Then she saw something small glisten in the corner of her eye. The key? She crouched down to reach it underneath a table, hoping it was what she thought it was. "Kaneki, I think I have the key.." She mumbled, grabbing the shiny object and stood up. It was indeed the key. Rushing over to the lock, she attempted to twist it open whilst her hands were trembling and awaited to hear the click of success. It worked. But it was so simple... Why hadn't they come after her? Thoughts streamed through her head as she yanked open the door, untied the rope around his wrists and ankles and stood him up. "We need to go, quickly." She spoke, followed by a gasp. "Where's Hinami?" She exclaimed. Kaneki widened his eyes. "I remember she went after me and I didn't see her after that because I was unconscious.." He trailed off in thought. Grabbing his hand, they ran out the door and into the hallway. It was dimly lit like the rest of the building, but there were shards of glass on the floor, making it hard to run on. Touka had avoided it on the way in but on the way out was a longer way around to get out the door of the top entrance. Without a thought, Kaneki picked Touka up and carried her across the glass and out the door. "Where could she be..." Kaneki muttered to himself, looking left and right. Then he could hear the 2 voices of the investigators, they were talkingp to someone... Sprinting towards the voice, Touka grabbed kaneki's t-shirt as his speed increased, and skidded to a halt. Hinami was stood there, accompanied by the two who kidnapped Kaneki. Leaping out of Kaneki's arms, Touka's kagune flashed awake, fiery orange and red blitzed out of her back. "Let the girl go..." She spat, eyes narrowing into a red pupil, isolated by vast darkness. The woman smiled, grabbing Hinami's shoulder and pulled her into her side. "I'm afraid not." She spoke, looking at her partner who shook his head in disapproval. She frowned slightly, and stepped back. "Assuming we have no defence, you have a simple victory. She's yours..." She pushed the youngster into Touka's arms as Kaneki stared down at Hinami. The 2 members of the CCG retreated swiftly after seeing that they were useless without their weapons, and would easily lose a fight. It was only a young girl, after all. After making their way back to Antekiu, Kaneki, Touka and Hinami all had a dull look on their faces; especially Kaneki. He had been trapped in the cage for hours, and felt as if he didn't appreciate Touka's help enough. For Touka, she felt like she didn't get there soon enough. Hinami was just in a bad mood because everyone else was. "Hinami..." Touka began, "Why did you come after Kaneki?" She then added. "I didn't want big bro to get hurt!" She declared, grabbing Kaneki's arm. She had a point, but felt bad for not helping earlier... She sat down and sighed. The day had come to an ending.
