Honk! The horn blared waking Sarah from her countless thoughts. She stood up quickly making way for the car.
As the car passed her she recognized it to be the one that left her yesterday. The person inside the car ignored her existence and moved inside.
Sarah was speechless about the situation wriggling her fingers feeling restless. Waiting another hour, the rays of sun started scattering on the ground.
The rich neighbors around were eyeing her from head to toe as they passed by. "What is she doing here? Such a pathetic person lying here." The passerby scrunched her nose.
"Why is the security getting bad, nowadays?" The other whispered while passing by.
Just then the phone rang at the security room. "Yes, old madam. Yes. Okay." As the call ended, the security guard opened the window and said,"Mrs. Harris, You can go inside. I was mistaken by your identity, Please accept my apology."
The guard opened the gate immediately and let her in. Stepping inside the gate Sarah clenched her fist closing her eyes.
As she entered the main door, she was greeted by a complete silence. She stood there like an iceberg having no clue where to go. Her patience was measured again and she thought how far she could take.
Standing at the front door, she hesitated to move anywhere. Thinking about various consequences, she did not take any step ahead.
Crash! The loud noise came from inside.
Leaving the last thought aside, Sarah opened the door and rushed inside.
Witnessing the scene in front of her, she stood utterly stunned. In front of her Wilson sat in the middle of broken glasses of bottles. His right hand was bleeding profusely. His hair was messy, eyes red and skin pale as sheets. His head was hung down and gloominess circled around him.
"Are-are you okay?" Sarah stuttered.
Moving forward she tried to check his condition but unfortunately he shook her hand away making her loose balance.
"Ah!" Both her hands rested on the broken pieces of glass.
Swiftly Wilson turned his head towards Sarah for a millisecond before turning back. "You deserve it." Wilson muttered. "Now get out of my room before I loose control." Wilson poured his hatred in every word feeling irritated.
While Sarah was struggling to stand, Wilson had already lost his patience, he attacked like a madman moving towards her holding her neck with his injured hand and pulling her hair from the other.
"How dare you disobey me? Am I dead to you?" Wilson roared making Sarah frighten. She shook her head nervously patting over his hand to let her go.
Just before she could lose her consciousness, he loosened his hand from her neck and pulled her hair back resting his other hand on her chin, "Listen very carefully you cheap woman, just because my grandma bought you for me to play does not mean I will play along with you. You are nothing but a useless thing for me. You dare interfere in my life, I will make sure your life will be a living hell." Wilson tightened his grip on her chin, hurting her miserably.
Sarah hissed breaking her eye contact.
"Do you understand?" Wilson patted her cheek to which Sarah nodded quickly.
"The sooner the better." Wilson shrugged. "Now scram." He yelled making Sarah shiver in fright.
Sarah immediately crawled away from him forgetting her injury. Like a headless creature, Sarah crawled out of his room. When she was finally near the living area she got her senses back.
With a thud, she rested her whole body. "Manic." Sarah muttered and looked at her now bloody hands.
The chin that had been pressed by her husband itched infuriating her to rub it hard. Her scalp was aching giving her light headaches.
"God, what have I welcomed in my life?" Sarah massaged her scalps as a string of tears fell down from her eyes.
As she was walking down the stairs, she met eyes with a middle aged woman. "Ah!" The woman yelped.
As the woman recovered from her shock, she moved forward murmuring "Thank god, old madam was right to send me here or else what disaster would have happened here."
"Hello Mrs. Harris, I am Nina, maid sent from old mansion to check on you." Nina greeted pulling Sarah with her.
"Hello Nina." Sarah replied.
"Old madam thought you would have faced some problem so she sent me here as soon as possible. Who would have known the situation was so terrifying?" Nina said.
"Young master can be short tempered but he is not bad. He might be angry with old madam for making him marry all of a sudden but old madam must have known what she was doing." Nina was trying to clarify her employer's doing but Sarah only felt bitter.
"It's okay, Nina. I can understand." Sarah replied. After all this was her decision to get involved in this chaotic situation.
"Here is your room, young madam. I will bring the first aid kit over while you go inside." Nina suggested.
"Thank you, Nina." Sarah nodded appreciating her.
"That's alright. I'm just doing my job here." Nina replied and walked out of the room.
Once again Silence embraced Sarah making her lonely and miserable. She rubbed her tears just to hiss in pain from her injured hand. The tears flowed continuously tormenting her emotions. She started crying more and more hysterically making her knees weak.
Thud! She fell down but all she could feel was the pain in her chest that was burning crazily. She cried to get rid of it but the more she cried the more her chest burned.
All she could think was her life was trapped now. She must have seen this coming from coerced marriage, the forced marriage.
