5th August, 1975.My dearest Roopali,
I hope you are doing just fine.
I'm assigned to the engineering branch of INS Tara. Everything is fine over here. But I am feeling anxious and overwhelmed at the same time. I'm liking the thrill of being in the middle of nowhere. All I could see is the vastness of the sea stretched out before me.My colleagues are really good. There are people from Jaipur and Ajmer here. But I am really concerned about you. I cannot spend a minute without thinking about you. I hope you're eating well. I hope you're happy. But I know you are feeling alone there. It is making my heart rip into pieces.
At night, when I can't see anything but darkness, I think about you and the moments we spent together. I am hoping to see you soon. Very soon.
Yours always,
Sub-lieutenant Rathore.
