"so you just accepted him again? like that?" mai asked, staring at the girl across from her.
hyein nodded, picking at the plate of food placed in front of her. mai was still trying to process the texts that hyein had shown her, her eyes going back and forth from the phone to hyein.
"i didn't really accept him? i don't want to get back together with him. i don't think i want to at least." mai sighed, placing her chin on her hand. she didn't know where this was going.
"and he's been texting you since last night?" hyein nodded again, the two boys that accompanied them stepping out of the cafe.
"and she answers back super fast which is crazy to me." jisung sits next to hyein, taking a sip from her drink. hyein scoffs, taking the drink away from him.
"he seemed sincere jisung. like i could feel his emotions over text." the boy shakes his head, picking at the sandwich he had gotten.
"it's a text, how do you feel emotion over text?" hyein rolled her eyes, turning back to chenle and mai.
"so you guys are back together?" chenle asked, overall confused with the situation that hyein had handed them.
"no, absolutely not. at least not right now we're not." hyein said, hoping to get her point across.
"so you're planning to get back together with him." hyein shook her head, but mai was quick to continue her speech, "that's what it sounds like yin, or at least from what i'm reading he wants to get back with you."
hyein didn't know what to say. she didn't want to get back with haechan, but she did still love him. she cared for him more than she had with other people. "i don't know. i'm so confused. i don't know what to do or what to feel."
she placed her head down, barely missing the plate of food in front of her. jisung moved it, chenle now picking off a piece to try whatever hyein had been eating. mai looked at the two boys, one having chocolate on his face, and the other just shrugging.
"you guys are no help." mai mouthed, the boys not being able to read her lips. jisung turned towards the girl, patting her on the head.
"i can't believe i'm saying this, but go with what your heart feels. if you still wanna be friends with haechan then go for it. if you love him and can still see a future with him, then don't let anything hold you back." jisung took a pause, trying to find the right words to say.
"just make sure you don't hurt yourself again." chenle spoke, finally saying something.
hyein picked her head up from the table, looking at her best friends, "i don't know what i want anymore." the three could see her eyes watering, feeling a bit bad for her.
it was her second heartbreak, from the same guy. it was a weird relationship they had, no one being able to explain it.
it was worse because the two liked to keep it private, only sharing pictures and videos with each other.
hyein barely spoke about her relationship with haechan to her friends, unless she needed help understanding what was going on between the two.
maybe this time she'll be able to understand a bit more, her heart hurting a little less.
