The doodle

And then came the Monday. I stood by my wardrobe looking for clothes to wear, so I look professional. And I tried some dresses, apparently they're way too flirty than professional so I thought I should stick to my casual shirt and jeans. Walking towards 221b was a task as my mind kept repeating what happened previously. I wondered how will it go this time, what perhaps those two men are doing? And the thoughts went away as soon as the land lady, Mrs Hudson opened the door, again not missing the big smile she wears.
"Rosie is upstairs" she informed and I went there. Opening the door I found the flat very... quiet, the sunrays coming in from the window, the scattered papers, the shining violin, the clean mirror, is that a skull there?
"Ms Ball" said the seven year old to me who was sitting at a desk with her colors and a notebook.
"there you are Rosamund" I said and went closer to her, "were you alone? where is your..."
"they're out solving cases, Mrs Hudson was with me though and now you are". The way she said that, made me giggle a little, even after my outburst yesterday she didn't think I'm a rude person. I don't think I was this mature, even the slightest at her age. I sat beside her taking a chair,
"so shall we start?" I asked.
"ofcourse, but it's Rosie, I like Rosie more than Rosamund".
"yes Rosie then... let us start" and there we started that one activity which never was for once boring to me, even if I was just teaching her to draw an apple and color it properly, it was fun anyway.
"you wanna add details to it?" I asked.
"sure" with that I took a white crayon and added some effects of light that was appropriate for a seven year old. After that I let her do it herself. I have this habit of doodling on every paper that was infront of me so I looked at some scattered papers.
"are these important?" I asked.
"no, Sherlock solved them, he doesn't clean so they're still there" replied Rosie.
"so may I have one?"
"yes but for what?"
"you know just... doodle, while you complete the apple" I replied taking a sheet.
"you truly lack patience" yes, she was much mature than myself. I took out my black sketchpen that I always keep with me and started drawing anything that was infront of me, this time it was a shining violin. I made a doodle on the written page and was satisfied with how it came out, so I put my initials under it M.B. like I do for all of my arts. an hour went by while we were drawing fruits, an apple, a strawberry and halfway through a bunch of grapes.
"I'm done" said she and showed me her drawing of another strawberry.
"this is quite nice actually and-"
"Lestrade is in ABSOLUTE DELUSION JOHN" came the voice of the famous detective from downstairs and we both were startled.
"Then solve it before him and stop YELLING AT ME" replied John watson as their footsteps were heard coming up.
"usual entry, don't be frightened Ms Ball." assured the seven years one.
The door flew open and these two men came inside, still arguing, "if he only listened and then-" he stopped as he looked at us, "oh Ms Ball, good evening."
Ms Ball? what happened to Melody now ? guess I'm the one who stopped it, never knowing I'd prefer being called Melody by him than Ms Ball.
"evening Mr Holmes, evening Dr watson." I greeted.
"Rosie did well?" asked her father.
"yes ofcourse have a look" before her father could come to the table, Sherlock Holmes sprinted to us to look at her drawing.
"hmm, this is a nice way to start, the details -" he stopped as he found my doodle, I thought he'd yell at me for drawing on his case papers, "my violin " he said.
"yes, sorry it was an used page I heard so I..." I replied hoping he doesn't mind.
He took the paper and looked at it carefully "quite amazing actually " he muttered. I felt ... I felt satisfied, haven't felt that in a while. You know since I lost my job.
"thanks" I replied as softly as I could.
"Greg's calling me now" informed John Watson from behind looking at his phone as it rang.
"what does he want now?" saying so Sherlock went towards him, not giving me my doodle back, instead he folded it and slipped it into his pocket as he picked up the call, to argue with an inspector as I presumed. But the doodle, my doodle of his violin in his pocket, it didn't go unnoticed, perhaps not even by the other two as well as we three stared at him for a few moments.
"so" said John Watson "Wednesday?"
"yes, did you enjoy drawing with me Rosie?" I asked.
"yes ofcourse " she replied and I smiled at her.
"see you then Rosie, Wednesday same time."
Sherlock was apparently busy so I didn't bother him and left through the entrance, getting outside only a faint sound of his voice came through the window as I heard him saying, "Melody went? she didn't tell me". Finally he did say my name again, I was a fool to oppose to it, before walking away, I did look back up today, and I found him taking his violin, did he saw me as I walked away, I don't know, but we'll get to see eachother again, the day after tomorrow.
