Sean and Gram had tried talking White and Black to let them go with them but they both declined. They assured them that they would be fine on their own and that they would feel better if they stayed back in the garage closer to Rome in case he needed help or something.
When they arrived at the restaurant and were led to the table their mother was already there. They didn’t know what to expect from this conversation.
“Mae.” White said as he took a seat across from her and Black sat down next to him.
“White.” She said and then turned to look at Black. “Black. How are you two?”
“We’re fin-” White was cut off by Black.
“Lets just get to the point of this meeting and not have small talk for half an hour. Your ex-husband showed up at the garage where we…work and made a scene about how he wants to speak with our nong and offer to give him all the opportunities he did to White. We all know there’s some conditions in the offer he wants to give Rome and those conditions probably include he goes and lives with him. Which is not going to happen while I am alive!” Black snapped.
“Phi, calm down.” White placed a hand on his shoulder and turned to look at their mother once he could sense Black was calming down. “Mae, do you know anything about Por’s plans?”
She sighed and pursed her lips. “He has mentioned Rome a few times during the times we’ve seen each other.” She admitted. “It seems that he hasn’t given up on the idea of having an heir to turn into a mini version of him.”
“Rome doesn’t want that life.” Black said.
“Rome still isn’t of adult age.” Their mother said.
“What is that supposed to mean?!” Black demanded.
“Are you saying por might try too…” White couldn’t even say it.
Their mother nodded. “Rome is technically still our responsibility. He just turned eighteen this year and until he is twenty your father and I are still responsible for him.” She said.
“You two haven’t done anything for him!” Black snapped. “You sent him out of the country for over a decade to keep us apart and that man who I refuse to ever call my father again had no connection to him since he left with White. Nong is much happier now that he’s living with White and I, so if either of you think I’m going to let him go live with that man then you’re mistaken.”
“Black it isn’t as simple as you might think.” Their mother said.
“Can he really force Rome to go live with him?” White asked anxiously.
“He can.” Their mother said. “Not only is he his father but he has connections. I’m sure he can easily get some paperwork saying if Rome doesn’t go and live with him and continues to live with you two then you two will be accused of kidnapping.”
“That asshole. After everything, he still thinks he can force us apart and to do what he wants.” Black said.
“Can’t you do something?” White asked their mother. “You’re his mother too and he has technically been under your care since you and father divorced. Doesn’t that count for something?”
“Under normal circumstances yes but not when your father had many powerful friends to get what he wants and if he wants Rome then…” She didn’t finish her sentence nor needed to because White understood what she was saying.
