The murmurs of laughter and chatter of her third-period class faded away as Tommy put her earbuds in. Heavy, thrumming bass blasted her ears as she clicked play. Switching tabs, she went to her essay and started working. Some kid bumped her arm, and she pressed an extra g key. She heard the familiar tune of the speakers catching everyone's attention, and the room went quiet as they waited for the voice of their vice principal.

"Sorry for the interruption, students, but there will be some people coming through your classes in just a few minutes. They are from an organization searching to solve a rare disease. Don't worry, it isn't contagious, but it shows the highest symptoms in children and young adults. If you have it, please don't resist and go with them. Thank you."

The class immediately started talking about people dying gruesome deaths to the disease. Tommy only rolled her eyes. Probably some weird theorists or something dumb.

A few minutes later, two people in all white biohazard suits with big clanky detectors walked in and moved them around the classroom. Everyone was completely silent. Then one of the detectors beeped. Again and again. Tommy looked up to see all eyes and a glowing detector pointed at her.

"What the f-"

"We need you to come with us immediately." One of the testers said. "What? How do I have some rare disease? I also kinda don't want to lose everything I know and love, so no thanks."

"This is your final warning, else we will use force to help you." She scooted back in her chair and the kids closest to her scooted away from her. "That...doesn't sound like helping..."

The first tester sighed and brought their walkie talkie to their mouth. "We have one, room 301, resisting." "Oh my god, fine!" Even if she doubted anything was actually wrong with her, she would rather be a weird kid taken by the crazy fanatics than the kid killed by a mysterious disease. The walkie talkie turned on.

"What level? We have another with low, but no resistance. Lets keep them apart so as to not trigger any memories during." "Very high. Highest I've seen in a very long time. Not since-well. You know." "Damn right I do. Now let's get these kids in." Tommy walked uncomfortably to the door and out to the hallway. One of the testers–she thinks it's a woman–takes front and orders her to follow. The other takes the back.

They walk to the entrance, then out to a series of big vans. She is escorted into one, and the silence is unbreaking and awkward. Then a needle is stuck into her neck, and she feels the grogginess of sedatives taking her under as her vision fades. This is one hell of a thursday. Is her last thought, and then she's out.
