Xandria's pov

By the time I finally made it home, I was exhausted. The walk back had given me enough time to replay everything that had happened earlier in my head, and honestly, I wasn't even sure what I was supposed to make of it.

I sighed as I reached my doorstep. Just then, my phone started ringing. I glanced at the screen. Carl.

"Hello?"

"Hey," his familiar voice came through. "I was just calling to know if you got to your room safely."

I smiled without even realizing it. "Yeah, I just got here now."

"Alright. I'm glad." There was a brief pause before he added, "I'm online waiting for you."

"Okay."

After ending the call, I quickly got myself settled and came online. Almost immediately, I noticed that he had already sent me a message.

I opened the chat.

Carl: Stay away from me😂

I stared at the message for a second before laughing.

Me: Heyy😂 Why should I do that?

His reply came almost instantly.

Carl: 😂😂😂
Witch

I rolled my eyes at my screen.

Me: Definitely not me😂

I was still smiling when I added.

Me: I'm so fucking hungry. Don't know what to eat.

Carl: Yes, you.
I am hungry too.
It happens. Go and find food.

Me: Unfortunately, I don't have.

Carl: Wouldn't you be able to buy?

I looked at the time.

Me: It's kinda late to be buying food.

Carl: Ok. Try to get a snack.
How did you do it?

I blinked.

Me: I will. Do what?

For a few seconds, I wondered what exactly he was talking about. Before I could get another response, I decided to take his advice. I grabbed my phone and headed outside to find something small to eat.

I hadn't even gone very far when my phone vibrated.

Carl: You know what😂

Me: I don't

Carl: The magic you performed.

I laughed under my breath.

Me: 😂😂
Since when am I a magician

Carl: 😂Go away.
I know you will miss me.

I stopped walking for a second. That was so like him. I shook my head and typed back.

Me: 😂😂
Maybe.

Carl: Oh🙄🙄

Something about talking to him felt strangely easy. I didn't have to think too much about what to say. The conversation simply flowed, jumping from one random topic to another. Maybe that was what made it dangerous.
