I had been dropped off in a totally unfamiliar place by an Uber in front of my new apartment and now not even a few hours later I was headed into a house party. Sounds about right for me.
When I got to the apartment no one was home so I let myself in and found my new bedroom. It was an empty room with a bare mattress and a dresser. That's all I needed.
It only took one trip for me to get into the house with all my stuff. One large suit case of clothes. A backpack with my school things and a cardboard box with my pillow, comforter and a few other important items. That was it. Everything I had to my name. It fit in my hands.
Needless to say, it didn't take long to unpack. I filled the dresser with my clothes, made the bed up with my sheets and comforter and slid my empty suitcase and box under the bed in case I needed them quickly. That's how I lived, always ready to pack up again at a moments notice.
I had been going back and forth with Eric, one of my new roommates, since last week. Confirming my move in, signing the lease and figuring out where to pick up my key. He let me know today that when I got here him and his brother Jace, my other roommate, would be at hockey practice and that I could make myself at home.
After meeting the brothers, I quickly realized Eric was exactly what I expected. The brotherly type, happy to make me feel included. He was kind, easy going and always smiling. His brother on the other hand was hard to read but fuck he was hot. Like jaw droppingly hot. He was in great shape that much was obvious.
He was tall with broad shoulders and muscular arms. He was wearing a flannel unbuttoned with a white t shirt underneath. His hair was a deep chocolate brown pushed back away from his face. He looked like trouble, the kind of guy I should steer clear of and yet, the kind of guy I seem to attract. The thing that confused me though was that he seemed oddly nervous to talk to me when his body language oozed nothing but confidence.
When we walked into the party, it was just what I expected. It was crowded, dimly lit, and the music was loud with the bass turned all the way up.
A few of the guys from the team were huddled in a corner of the kitchen that Eric, Jace and I were headed toward.
Eric got their attention as we walked up to them and introduced me. "Guys, this is Cam. Our new roommate, Cam these are the guys."
