Danny kept an eye out for Hermione. After he had shifted through his notes and burned them he realized just which she had taken.
The notes on a famed dark wizard, Voldemort.
Danny shook his head. Just because she impeded on his study session didn't mean he would stop. Now he also had find her and demand what her deal was. What a waste of time.
Danny gripped the books as he rounded the corner ready for his class Care Of magical creatures taught by a man known as Hagrid who lived in a small hit just near the forbidden forest.
Danny slid into a seat and looked around. The trio hadn't arrived yet. The class started and Danny's wondered if maybe none of them were even in this class.
Then they showed up.
"Now as most of yer know, imma bit of an outdoorsy man me'self. Or- course you can't hope to find a mystical creature sittin' at yer desks" Hagrid said with a hearty laugh.
He turned a semi serious face into the seated students.
"I trust you all got yer books with ya"
Haggard waited as each student pulled out a book.
"Yer've gotta be gentle about openen it. Just stroke it's spine there, real gentle, that's like it" Hagrid said.
Danny followed his instructions.
The book made a satisfied gurgle sound and Danny opened it. It was strange how alive the book was. From across the room a book had gone mad, trying to eat somebody's shoe.
As eventful as class was, Danny hoped that the rest of the day would go by smoothly.
Danny waited for the class to end, once Haggard dismissed them. Danny bolted for the trio.
He tried his best to ignore Ron and Harry.
"Hermione, I don't know what you think you read, but it's not your concern. Give me the notes that you stole from me." Danny persisted.
Hermione held up her chin at Danny.
"I have no clue, whatsoever you mean. I didn't steal anything from you" she said denying the accusation.
"What's up with you anyway, showing up in the middle of the year, acting so secretive. Making friends with Snape" Ron said.
"Hermione just give me the notes, that's all I want"
"She said she doesn't have them." Ron said.
Danny looked him over.
"You know full well that's not true, Ronald"
Ron stared again at the mention of his full name.
"Teachers pet!" Ron retorted.
Danny clenched his fist.
"You have no idea what your talking about, yes I make an effort" Danny said.
Ron snorted.
"Are you kidding me, I saw you, he showed about as much favoritism as he does Draco!" Ron said his voice getting louder.
Harry eyes suddenly got wider as he hatched a plan.
"Hermione will give you the notes if, you come with us to the room of requirements" Harry proposed.
Danny turned a skeptical eye on Harry.
"You swear to it"
Harry nodded crisply. Danny walked swiftly with them as Harry led the way.
The room itself wasn't particularly hard to find, after all, it revealed itself if you really needed it too.
Danny followed Harry in Hermione and Ron Saturday outside.
"Just stand in front of the mirror" Harry said.
Danny rolled his eyes. He didn't see what standing in front of an old mirror would do-
Behind him two misty figures came into focus. Danny's breath hitched and he couldn't speak.
Finally he regained his voice.
"What kind of sick joke is this?" He whispered.
Harry stood unsure of what was going on.
Danny turned angry eyes on Harry.
"You brought me in here, made me stand in front of this mirror, for what? To watch me squirm?!" Danny called his fists.
"What do you see?" Harry asked. Though he had some idea.
"My dead parents, I would do ANYTHING to bring them back. They didn't deserve it!" Danny bit back the tears and turned away from the mirror.
"I want my notes" Danny said walking from the room.
Hermione and Ron looked to Harry for confirmation. He gave them the go ahead and Hermione handed Danny his notes.
Danny stuffed them in to his robes and stormed away.
"What did he see?" Ron asked whisp fully.
"His parents" Harry replied in a whisper. Hermione sucked in a breath.
Harry knew it would be strange, what Danny saw. After all everything about the kid was stealing he in some semblance. Still he wasn't expecting this.
Danny burned the notes immediately. Everything he needed to know was inside his head.
As dinnertime rolled around again, Danny walked in the opposite direction of the thing of students. Suddenly a poltergeist popped up in front of him.
"Oh what's this, a lost wizard. WIZARD WANDERING THE HALLS. THERE'S AN UNDERAGE WIZARD BREAKING THE RULES!!" Peeves shouted.
Danny's eyes grew wide as he tried to shush the noisy ghost thing.
"Peeves" a voice said in a distasteful tone. Peeves looked up and made a noise of between a shriek of fright and a laugh before escaping.
Danny had tried to leave and continue his journey when a sharp tone made him stop.
"Where do you think your going?"
Danny turned his head sharply.
Snape was standing there.
"I was going to the library"
Snape's mouth twitched.
"To study" Snape inquired.
Danny just nodded.
"One stray student could be fatal in a crisis, therefore, if you have no dire business report for dinner."
Danny looked at him with shimmering disbelief in his eyes.
"But-"
Snape cut off his objections.
"And your questions pertaining to the wizarding world can be asked during our scheduled lesson times."
Danny looked at him in slight surprise. Grateful Danny nodded his head and hurried off to the great hall for dinner.
Danny sat down at the only available seat at the Gryffindor table and, it unfortunately happened to be right next to Harry.
He kept getting curious glances all night but he didn't care, he was one step closer to the truth and tomorrow maybe he would be five steps closer.
But he would make Voldemort pay.
