It's been a whole week since that night at Kilderry Park and Roman has stayed true to his word when he said he'd leave Reese alone. Admittingly, it's been peaceful when she could walk down the hallway at school without being harassed or creeped out. However, she can't help but feel as though the guilt from that night was eating her alive. She hated making wrong assumptions about people but it's a stubborn habit to break. Yet again, she also trusted her gut feelings. Sam used to always say that gut feelings are like your guardian angels. Always trust them.

Roman and Reese would ignore each other completely other than the short exchange of glances they'd make when they walked past each other at school. Little did Reese know that Roman was still keeping an eye on her. He didn't want to leave her alone but it seemed like that was what she wanted.

"Hey, Ro

"Hey, Ro." Letha greeted him in her usual cheerful tone. She sits beside him on the bench that was right in the middle of the courtyard. Roman usually liked to spend his lunch break at school alone except when Letha decides to join. "Want to go halfsies on a turkey club?"

"No thanks. I'm not really that hungry at the moment."

"Still upset about the whole Reese thing, huh?"

Of course he was. When someone you genuinely like tells you that they don't like you, it makes you feel a little blue. Roman doesn't usually feel blue or doesn't usually care if people don't like him back, but he was really hoping Reese would've.

"Maybe I should just apologize and ask to start all over. It's fucking with my head that I'm not doing anything to fix it."

"I don't know. Maybe it's best not to get involved with her. I'm sure she's a nice girl and that she means well, but.. We both know how you are with girls. You can be kind of a man whore."

"What are you saying?" Roman starts getting a little offended. Sure, he and Letha can tell each other anything but there's still boundaries.

"I'm saying that it's probably just best that a girl like Reese doesn't get involved with a guy like you. To avoid the heartbreak. Not every girl just wants to be used once for sex and never seen again."

Letha was right. But he wasn't the heartbreaker she was making him seem like. Roman doesn't mean to break any hearts of any girl that may fall for him. Hell, he doesn't even want sex most of the time. There was some sort of disturbing hunger for blood in him that he couldn't stop getting. So when he was able to charm or convince a girl to let him have his way with them, they'd be willing enough to let him have a taste of their blood.

It's sick. It's abnormal. But it's something Roman doesn't describe, he just has a craving for blood. He could never tell Reese that, let alone being able to tell his own cousin who he tells everything to.

He wishes he wasn't so sick.

When Saturday rolled around, Reese woke up and she thought about her plans for the day. She has no homework to do, Sam was out picking a paint color for the kitchen and she just had the whole day available. She realizes that she hasn't talked to Peter much since the night at Kilderry Park except for a few times at school, so she thought she'd stop by the trailer park.
