Null is...very mysterious, to say the least. We have very little on his true nature, and he tends to stay out of the limelight, only making himself known whenever people start to think he didn't exist, just to keep reminding people he is very much real.
Classification: Entity.
Powers: Actually not very well documented. Disappearing in the blink of an eye is one of his notable abilities, as is teleportation and hovering. Other fighting abilities haven't been documented.
First Known Sighting: Exact date is unknown, however the year and month may sound familiar. August, 2010.
Temperament: Undetermined. A story mentions that Null never acted hostile towards the one accountable person we have on record, and tended to pop up every now and then and just watch. However...Herobrine himself had some interesting words to say about "Null". We'll get into that in a moment.
Rumors Of How He Came To Be: None That We Can Verify Or Confirm. Most believe he was around since the beginning of this universe (Minecraft), even before. After all, Null means Void, and last time I checked, the void is the one constant in this universe that DOESN'T change. Kinda adds up, don't you think?
Documented Stories: Only One Notable Story. The one about a person, back in the early days of this universe( Minecraft, back in the Alpha and Beta stages.) who had never seen Herobrine, but had seen Null, who always just observed but never interacted. THIS is where things get interesting. After the 1.4 update, the person claims Null just..."vanished". They remember how good the old days were, and tried to play back in time, but they never could. That is, however, until Minecraft's new launcher came into place. You could actually go back in time, so they did. They started up version 1.2.5, in beta, and everything was normal, until a few days passed. THIS, is when Herobrine starts interacting. Smooth lighting wasn't a thing yet, so they couldn't see much in the dark, until they saw out of the corner of their eye, a redstone torch. Redstone torches don't spawn naturally, so that's the first red flag. They also used to be one of Herobrine's old calling cards, before he stopped doing that, probably because it was too obvious since everybody knew what it meant nowadays, and it gives away his presence too easily. However, back then he still used that calling card. The person mentally rolled their eyes, thinking Notch had added that in to get fanatics to shut up about Herobrine. They continued heading back to their house, and a sign showed up where their door was, that said only one word, "null". Once again, they thought it was another "prank" but remembering Null means "not available", they assumed whatever the joke was had "bugged out". They slept through the night, but when they walked out of the front door, they heard something like the sound of crying, whimpering, shouting... or possibly a growl. But, while the sound played, the noise it made got corrupted and turned into a muttering glitch noise. They looked around, left, right, behind them... No one was there... but out of nowhere they heard a fall damage noise. They quickly turned around, and saw Herobrine. Their world froze, then kicked them. They decided to play on version 1.7.2 again. They played for a bit, then got off and didn't come back for a few days, and when they did, their avatar wasn't in front of their newly built house, but deep underground, in a stone tunnel in the dark. They decided to walk down the corridor, and eventually discovered another one of Herobrine's redstone torches. As they continued to walk, more of the torches appeared, seemingly being put there to light their way. When they reached the end, a sign was there, and as they started to read it, another corrupted noise sounded off, almost sounding like a depressed voice asking for help... the audio cut out afterwards. They were scared to turn around, the sign was already too much, unreadable with Swedish text. They took a screenshot of the text, then manually left the world, and used Google Translate to translate what it said. What it said, was bone chilling. "Help! Null is here! Tell everyone about me!" They hesitated about getting back on their world, but came to the conclusion that if they didn't "help" now, they may not get the chance to later. They logged back in. They were greeted to being up high in the sky, nothing in their inventory, and there was one piece of bedrock holding them up. They looked around... and there he was... the name we've all heard before: "Herobrine." They stared at him, until their screen got bugged and turned into static. They were stuck in place. He started to use the chatting system...However, no nametag was shown who was stating the message. They took screenshots of every sentence he made before he decided to crash them again. Once again, they had opened Google Translate. The messages got creepier the more they translated. It stated the following:
"I need help."
"Do you remember playing during the golden age of Minecraft?"
"If so, do you remember the man you were greeted by every now and then."
"The one who was as black as night itself."
"Do not take this monster lightly."
"I am trapped."
"You can blame him."
"I'm sure you've heard of stories about me. How I tortured innocent players?"
"Every single one of them is FALSE."
"I am feared upon being a very evil entity."
"But I'm not! I'm one of the good guys!"
"That man you've seen before."
"He is different."
"HE is evil."
"Please tell everyone that I am trapped."
"Maybe they have a solution!"
"If you don't help, however..."
"Well then it's HIS game now."
This is where things get confusing. From what we have observed and what little we do know, all Entities have the ability to shape-shift, and otherwise alter their appearance, though some have more obvious dead giveaways than others, taking Herobrine as an example, no matter what form or appearance he takes on, he can never hide his eyes. Herobrine is a violent, ruthless, merciless Entity, and has never been known to not kill his prey, let alone leave messages that weren't meant to scare the person he is tormenting...but if he truly did this, is Null shape-shifting to look like Herobrine, to make HIM the bad guy? We can never truly know, as this story ends with a cryptic warning to other people who may come across "Null":
"Just remember guys: "He's looking out for you... Trying to warn you of the dangers you can't see."
"As for Null? "He's looking for you. Trying to endanger you..."
A dead end. Nothing more is heard from this user, and that is the end of the story. Herobrine has also been known to be a trickster, so we have no way of knowing who was telling the truth, is Null the good guy, or is Herobrine?
Alias's: Not often referred to as this, but HAS been referred to as Shadow Herobrine.
Danger Level: If this story rings true, Null's danger level is a 10/10, if he has kept up the charade that Herobrine is the bad guy when he was in fact the good guy, for this long, than he might as well be as dangerous as a SkinWalker. If the story isn't true, and it's a sick joke from Herobrine, he's a 1/10, as all he did was observe the person.
