I woke up the next day to one of my neighbours' loud doors in the hallway, slamming shut. I flinched out of my doze, groaning softly and sitting up. My eyes fluttered open, instinctively turning toward my phone.
"What... what time is it?" I asked myself, sighing softly and stretching myself out. I picked up my phone, switching the button on the side of it and observing the screen as the time popped up on it. The time read '9:17 am', so I decided to get up and start my day.
I got up, phone in hand, walking toward my bedroom door. I exited my bedroom, walking down my dim, and slightly dark, hallway. I came into the main room, seeing the soft, comfy couch. I plopped onto it with a sigh, flipping the tv on and crossing my legs with my hands in my lap.
The news channel flickered onto the large screen, and my attention perked up as the news reporter started talking.
"Breaking news; Four dead bodies found, slaughtered and buried under shallow dirt near the forest. These bodies were found just this morning but seemed to have been left there to rot since last night."
I gagged.
"That's disgusting..." I muttered, shaking my head and turning the tv off instantly.
Who would do that? In this area, too? I didn't think that anything this bad would happen in a place where I lived. Whatever, I tried to ignore my thoughts and the horrifying words spoken. It wasn't a nice visual. At all.
I scoffed, an uncomfortable and grossed out look on my face as I got up and went back into my bedroom. I went into my closet, pulling out a baggy sweater, jeans, and a shirt. I got changed into them and brushed my hair and teeth.
I was bored, very bored, and I had nothing to do or no one to talk to, so I grabbed my purse, threw on my warm boots, and dug my phone into my purse. I went to the front door, leaving my apartment and locking the door, putting the keys in my Jean pocket.
The hallway was still dim and slightly dark. The only thing illuminating the gloomy corridor was a flicker of half dead light bulbs on the ceiling. I walked down the quiet hall, the small heels on my boots making a 'clack' on the short carpet. The elevator was not far from me, and when I got to it, I stepped inside. I looked at the buttons, seeing the doors close as I pressed the 'lobby' button.
I stood in silence, awaiting the doors to slide open and give me an exit. In the meantime, I took my phone out and scrolled through my apps. I clicked on Google, googling about the news report I had seen just this morning.
As I pressed 'search,' results came up that they had apparently figured out who did it. Of course, I was curious, so I kept scrolling and clicking on links until I saw the name of a gang.
'Tokio Hotel is back at it yet again. They'd killed four girls 16 hours prior to now. Watch out for 'em, lock your doors, and ensure your safety as of staying put at home.'
"Hm..." I hummed to myself, sighing and switching my phone off. I clutched my purse, chucking my phone back inside and zipping it up.
The doors finally slid open with a 'ding,' revealing the lobby. The receptionist was nowhere to be seen, for now, so I'd be fine for any conversation.
I trotted out of the elevator, turning the corner to head for the door and bumping right into someone's chest.
"Oof-" I grunted, looking up and seeing that very same guy with long black and white cornrows.
He glared down at me with his phantom brown eyes, circled in pitch black eyeliner.
"You should really watch where you're going." He growled, stepping aside to let me pass. He folded his arms over his chest, giving me a look up and down.
