Each gem has its own specific talent, skill, ability, what have you. Every once in a while a gem would be born without one. They were called Norma's. Sometimes, more uncommon than norma's there would be one in an entire long running family of gems.

When Norma's are born, they are treated as zeros in their society. They are treated like dogs on the street and are never given chances for anything.

This is a story about a Norma and her sister who was a gem.

This Norma was named Zelah. Not having a specific gem, she wasnt given a name. So her patents nicknamed her Zelah. That being said, she had a sister named Emerald. Being with her sister always she did not feel equal to her sister. Not wanting to be a gem she nicknamed herself Elmiza.

Elmiza and Zelah were inseparable. Always together and always alone. In school, Elmiza was the popular one. Everyone was impressed with her gem weapon which were two large sythes in her legs. Zelah, not having a gem, had to learn hand to hand combat to survive.

Among all the famous younger gems, there was one other who was as popular as Elmiza. Her name was Rose Quartz. Having been so well known, of course they were bound to meet.

Now when two gems that are not only powerful but also well known meet, it is accustomed for them to engage in combat straight away. Rose thinking it was barbaric as did Elmiza, they thought they could just avoid each other.
