I woke up Sunday morning with my phone ringing. I opened one eye to peek at the clock on my bedroom wall. Nearly six in the morning and the sun hadn't even risen yet.

With groan, I buried my face in the soft pillow, answering the call with a murmur since the caller seemed persistant.

"Mhh?"

"I'm right outside your door with a fresh energy shake. You've got five minutes to get dressed and come out, otherwise, I'll have to kick down the door and get you out myself" a familiar voice threatened.

"Mhh" I mumbled, my voice thick with sleep.

"The clock's ticking, Lila, four minutes and thirty seconds" he warned.

"Who's this?" I managed to mumble.

"The hottest man alive. Giddy-up girl, we've got a sunrise to catch"

I groaned again and sighed, already knowing Daniel wasn't going to give up.

"Is there a way to stop you from dragging me out at this time of the night?" I grumbled, shifting in my comforter.

"To answer you, first of all, it's not night, it's morning. And yes, there's a way, but we don't have that sort of relationship, yet"

I declined the call dragging myself out of bed, moving into the bathroom for pouring cold water on my face, shivering at every droplet.

What a shitty idea.

I slipped into comfy clothes and got my hair up in a ponytail, then gathered my stuffand opened the door. There he stood, all smiley and full of energy.

"Two minutes late, you should be disciplined" he remarked.

"Aren't you supposed to rest before the race?" I questioned, accepting the green-coloured shake.Surprisingly, I didn't taste as bad as it looked.. I felt the heaviness of his arm wrapping around my shoulders, as we walked side by side towards the elevator.

"Why rest when you can train in such a beautiful place?" he countered, a groan escaping my lips.

As we stepped out of the hotel, the sky greeted us with a clear light blue hue, with faint orange rays hinting at the imminent sunrise. It felt surreal to be up so early in a foreign country.

"I'm glad I convinced you without any trouble" said Daniel with a cheeky grin. I embraced myself in a hug, the cool breeze from the sea rustling through my hair.

"How did you find my hotel room?" I asked, sipping my shake.

"I asked around and got the room number from the concierge," he explained, busying himself with his phone and Apple watch, preparing for our workout.

"Such a Joe Goldberg move" I commented, to which he shrugged.

"I might take it as a compliment" he replied with a chuckle as we made our way towards the beautiful waterfront.

I could see the track from where we were and a rush of excitement ran through my body. It was such a beautiful circuit, I couldn't wait to see the race in person.

"Do you do this every morning?" I asked struggling to keep up with his fast-paced walk.

He nodded "Usually not this early but yeah, I love a good morning run" he said, increasing his pace.

A few minutes later I found myself already spanting. I couldn't help but keep regret not staying in bed. He adjusted his running shoes and gave me a mischievous grin.

"You ready?" he asked towering me. I huffed "I'm not a runner. I won't last more than 10 minutes, I assure you"  I confessed, tying my sweater around my waist to feel lighter.
