Melancholy
By Asteria

One dark midnight dreary
as I pondered weak and weary
Of the sad and somber mood

And longingly hate
The sound of the clock as it strikes midnight

For only hours prior you were laughing
Only hours prior I held you in my arms
Only hour prior I felt the warmth of your hand on my cheek as longing as it was brief
As soon after you hand started to slip from my grasp
And fell on the sheet as you tried to hold onto your final breath
As you tried
You tried so hard to hold on to what little life you could
As I cried and shouted for help
Weeping into your shoulder when my cries were left unanswered
And here in this room
During this faithful bleak November
You left me alone
To wallow and moan in the pain that I now lay
As the help I had cried for
arrived two minutes to late.

For only hours prior you were laughingOnly hours prior I held you in my armsOnly hour prior I felt the warmth of your hand on my cheek as longing as it was briefAs soon after you hand started to slip from my graspAnd fell on the sheet as you tried...
