In the depth of the castle

Chapter Three

"Who are you?" She asked.

"I'm Arthur. What about you?" He replied.

"Oh! I'm Rebecca." She said in response.

"Are you okay? Since you fainted." Arthur asked with a hint of concern in his voice.

Rebecca answered in the most dramatic way possible. "I was warming myself by the fire while also drying my clothing as it got soaked in the rain when a shadow entered the room, and I got so scared I fainted."

Arthur stared at her blankly as he replied. "A shadow caused you to faint."

"Yes!" She answered.

Arthur's attention moved from Rebecca as he heard a door slam behind him. He snapped around, staring at a wooden door that was now closed.

It took him a second to realise that the door he was facing was not closed before.

The silence was destroyed with a loud piercing scream. Arthur covered his ears to block out the noise.

"What the HELL," Arthur shouted, turning to face Rebecca, who caused the scream, "ON EARTH WAS THAT FOR"

Rebecca flinched back but just stared at the wooden door, unable to answer Arthur.

He sighed and got up to check the door, but as he went to open it, he realised it was locked.

Rebecca noticed that Arthur failed to open the door and started sobbing. "W-we're never g-getting out of h-here!" She said with exaggerated gasps.

"No." Arthur replied calmly, "we will get out of here, I just need to figure out how."

He was pacing back and forth, trying to come up with an idea.

After some time, a solution came to Arthur.

He faced the door and kicked it, followed by three more kicks.

Noticing that it was still closed, he gave it one final blow with his fist, putting all his body weight behind the punch. The door crashed open.

"Ow! That was the most stupid thing I've done all day." Arthur said while wincing in pain.

Looking down, he saw blood trickling down his hand. It wasn't a serious injury, but it still hurt.

He looked down the dark hallway when something strange and new occurred.
