The water was swallowing me up, engulfing my body and mind. I almost accepted the fact that nothing but death awaited me and surprisingly- it didn't scare me, actually quite the opposite. The idea seemed quite fair to me if I'm honest. I was even curious as to what awaited me in the afterlife. But then suddenly I felt strong arms scooping me out of the water. I barely knew what was going on, due to my weakened state. After a while, I finally could breathe in the air. For the first time in my life, I was immensely happy about this. I heard a muffled voice from above me but I couldn't recognise to whom it belonged.

"Miss, are you alright?" someone said "Hello? Do you hear me, miss?"

Before I managed to say anything, I started coughing water out of my lungs.  "Where am I?"

"We are outside the city, about 15 minutes from Court of Fontaine." said the person with a deep masculine voice, which was surprisingly very soothing.

"Court of Fonte.. .Fontaine?"

"Yes, indeed. What seems to be the problem?"- I suddenly began to feel dreadfully dizzy, hearing information that my head was unable to process at that moment.

"What is Fontaine?"

"I... I don't understand what you mean my lady. We are in Fontaine... Miss, do you hear me? Miss??" And after that, I finally lost consciousness.

.....................

I had no idea where I was, and neither did I know, what time was it. It took me a while to pry my eyes open and when I eventually managed to do so, everything before me was blurry for a moment.

I noticed that I was lying on a couch in a remarkably huge room. Actually, it seemed to be some kind of an office, that must belonged to someone very influential due to the extremely expensive interior. However, what caught the eye most at first glance was the collection of books gathered there.

Then I heard the doors being opened and a strange-looking creature came in. It was very short and had bluish... fur? What drew attention was also its tail, long ears, and pink eyes. I'm not going to lie, I was totally surprised and out of words at the sight of it, but I didn't feel scared, in fact, it gave off a very friendly aura.

"....you awaken miss? Hello? Do you hear me?"

"Oh... yes. It was so rude of me, I am terribly sorry for my behavior."

"Haha, it is alright. No need to apologise. My name is Sedene and you are...?"

"I..." Suddenly I felt completely clueless, I couldn't even recall my own name and it made me totally embarrassed "I.... don't know. I am... sorry I don't remember."

"It's alright, no need to worry, you have just woken up. I will go and get something for you to drink, Monsieur should be there in a moment, he left to do something." Monsieur? Who is that? Is he in charge here? Is this his office?

"Okay thank you." I said with a smile. I couldn't help but feel sympathy for her, I cannot imagine that people could be hostile toward creatures like her. As I was drown in my own thoughts, I didn't notice that the door was opened once again, but this time heavy steps could be heard. That wasn't Sedene so I immediately raised my head and was met with a new face.

An extremely tall and well-built man with pale skin appeared at the entrance to the room. He was dressed in a fancy suit with bluish accessories and his incredibly long white hair was tied up. His handsome face wasn't showing any emotion, in fact, it looked quite stern at first glance. But it was his slit eyes that attracted the most attention by far. They combined both sky blue and lilac. They were simply mesmerising. The man approached me carefully with a tray in his hand.

"I see that you have finally awoken, miss. I do hope that everything is alright now."

"Ah yes, I feel much better now, thank you for your concern." As I said that he laid the tray on, what I assumed was his desk, and filled a teacup with steaming liquid. I took the drink from his hand and thanked him politely with a smile. After that, he carefully sat at the end of the couch I was lying on.

"I think that you owe me some answers, my lady."

"I will do my best, but I don't promise, that I will be able to answer each of them. So... what do you want to know?"

"What actually happened there? Why were you drowning? Was someone after you?"

"Honestly I have no idea how to answer these questions. I just... appeared there out of nowhere. I have no clue as to how I ended up here." As I said these words I could see his slightly confused expression. If I were to be honest, I would react in the same way as him, because what I was saying had actually no sense. Unfortunately, whether I liked it or not it was true and I had no choice but to tell everything I knew. I was one hundred percent sure that he would take me for some kind of a nuthead and probably ban me from this city.

"I see... Do you at least remember your name? There is no need to rush take your time, miss, I understand that you may be in shock due to this situation. Please refrain from exerting undue pressure upon yourself" his answer surprised me. Not only did he believe me but he also tried to somehow sympathise with me. I focused to grasp at least a small part of my memory, but nothing came to my mind at the moment. With a loud, sigh I curled up in shame and took better ahold of the teacup which I forgot I was holding.

"I... I am... extremely sorry. I know that my... presence must cause you a lot of inconvenience and I am nothing more than a burden to you, Sir. I... I will do everything in my power to fulfill your request or at least answer in kind for all you have done for me." I did not have enough courage to look him in the eyes as I said all of that aloud, so when I finished I raised my head and was met with these hypnotising bluish eyes.

"Miss, there is no necessity for you to proffer an apology.  In fact, if you should have any questions about anything do not hesitate to ask away. For now, however, we will have to end our conversation here. I had the servants prepare a room for you here in the Palais Mermonia. Until we solve this situation you are more than welcome to stay here." He stood up and then held out his hand towards me to help me get up, which I gladly took. But when our hands came in touch I felt some kind.. electricity? I had no idea what it was and quickly brushed it off.
