Sydney's POV

"Huh?". I stare at him in confusion. What does he mean now? I don't understand this man's out of the blue mood swings. "I said, I don't entertain you maintaining personal relationships which meddle with your work, Miss. Floyd". He says. Is he talking about Danny? C'mon we were just having a little talk and does he want me to sit 24/7 in his office and do his work. "I will take care of that from next time, sir". I say with evident sarcasm.

"Good girl, now if you may, take these files to your cabin. These contain some drafts which I need perfectly edited by the time you leave. Is that clear?". Oliver speaks to me with a smirk on his face. What's up with him? And good girl??? Anyway, gotta do my first actual task perfectly. So, I pick up the files, nod at him and leave his cabin. It was giving me anxiety anyways.

I get into my cabin still in awe. I start editing the drafts. By the afternoon, I'm close to halfway done. I sometimes surprise myself. I have a lot more to do,though. However, it's lunch time now. I head to the lift to go the cafeteria which is on the ground floor.

The lift door was about to close, when a veiny hand stops it. My boss gets in. Why is this lift taking so long again? "How are you liking your new workplace, Miss Floyd?". He asks me. What's up with addressing me by my surname? "It's amazing, sir. Most of the people here are quite welcoming". I say with an emphasis on most. As the lift comes to a halt, we get out and go our separate ways. I head to the cafeteria where I'm greeted by an enthusiastic Sarah.

"Heyyy girl, how was your day?". She asks me. "Eh..tiring and confusing but this place is literal heaven". I reply and tell her about how I don't understand what my boss wants from me half of the time. "So.. you're saying that Mr. Oliver Johnson talked to you?". Sarah asks in a suspicious tone. "Well..um yeah..he's my boss". I reply dumbfounded.

"Yeah, idiot. I know but he barely talks to anyone in the office except his very close friend, Liam. He never even talked to his previous assistants." Sarah says to me. I stare at her in astonishment. We talk a bit more about the departments and their bosses. Anyway, the lunch break got over soon which meant, both Sarah and I had to get back to work.

I get back to my cabin but something felt different. My chair was turned the other way, facing the wall. I go upto my chair when it turns, and Mr. Oliver reveals himself reading a book. Waitttt, is he reading Ana Huang? No way! I'm still staring at the book when he looks upto me.
"Done staring?". He asks abruptly.

Bold of him to assume I was staring at him. "Isn't this my cabin, sir?". I ask in annoyance. "Well I thought since today is your very first day, I'd help you out with your work". He says. Well, more like poke his nose in my business every 2 minutes but what can I do. "I appreciate your help but I don't think that'd be necessary, sir".

"Oh,  um you don't really have an option. I'm done with my work and I like to stay occupied so here I am". Oliver says and I roll my eyes. We get started on the files and he tells me about some key points which to be honest, were quite helpful. By the time we were done, it was way past the office hours. Almost 9:30. Noah must be waiting. I quickly grab my stuff to leave.

"Why the hurry, Miss Floyd?". Oliver asks startling me. Since when does he care so much? "My younger brother is home awaiting me and since it's way past our work hours and I've completed my assigned work as well, I gotta head home and make dinner. I'm too hungry. Plus, way too exhausted". I say to him. "How do you speak so much in one go?". Oliver chuckles. Duh- he was the one who asked and now I'm the chatterbox?

"Well Mr. Got no work to do, I am getting late so I'll head home. Don't you have siblings or parents to go home to as well?". I ask without much thought. "Good night, Miss Floyd. See you tomorrow". Oliver says. Why so rude? I answer all his questions and then when I ask one, he leaves abruptly. Anyways, I had no time to ponder upon this bullshit so I head to the lift and reach downstairs.

I quickly get into my car and drive home. It's not that far from the office. A 10 minute ride if I drive by my normal speed (which I warn, is labelled by my friends as rash driving cause apparently I'm too speedy). I reach home, completely exhausted. I head upstairs and change.

Noah was studying for his upcoming exam. My boy works so hard, I feel so proud to be his sister. I was too exhausted to cook dinner so I think of just ordering something. I asked Noah and we decided on having pizzas for the night. Then,  Noah heads back to his room to study. He doesn't really sleep there. That room is just when he needs to hyperfocus. He gets distracted too easily.

It's almost 11 now which indicates I should sleep if I want to get up on time tomorrow. However, sleep doesn't come easy to me. So, I just lay down scrolling on my phone when I get a text message. Must be from Niko. Ah, forgot introducing him. Didn't I?

Niko Ballard, my best friend since high school. However, he's way more successful considering the fact we are literally the same age. He is the boss of his self and well-established tech company. We met in highschool where both of us were put on the same team for a spell bee competition and well, we aced it. We've been inseparable ever since.

However back to the point, the text was not from Niko. It was from Oliver? Wait what?
Am I dreaming? Because the text read something that def wasn't Oliver Johnson.

Mr. Oliver Johnson
Still up babygirl?

Me
I think you texted the wrong number, sir.

Mr. Oliver Johnson
Oh, I'm certain I didn't ;)
