I woke up to the sound of my mom yelling at me to come downstairs. "Yes, mom. I'm already late, hurrying up won't do me any better, just let me be" I groaned as I ran down to see steaming coffee my mom had made for me.

"Thanks mom! Bye!" I yelled out while taking the coffee and speeding to my car.

Who am I? And why am I in such a rush? Well, I'm Scarlett and I am currently working in a food company as a researcher. I live a pretty normal life and have a decent social life (not really).

In my defence, the one friend I do have, is probably the best person literally ever so I don't mind having a trashy social life. I'm an extroverted person but I hate people, even though I have lots of "friends" I don't consider any of them as real friends that help me, but rather people that I hangout with for fun, so it's pretty chill.

Enough of that, I pulled an all-nighter yesterday, because my stupid boss liked my stupid idea so now I had no choice but to execute this project (can't help it I'm smart). I do like my job though, it's pays me well- Never mind, my job pays me just enough to make ends meet.

Did you know my mom has a crazy rich dad. So, that means my grandfather is filthy rich. But my mom isn't on good terms with him but we're still in contact out if "respect". My grandmother married grandpa for his money, I mean she was smart. Unlike my mom, who married a junkie that left us.

Dad abandoned us when I was 6 months old, so even he is out of the question. I have an older brother, but he moved out as soon as he could and I think he currently lives with his girlfriend.

So right now, it's just me and my mom in the picture and life is pretty good.

I just reached my workplace, I don't plan on getting an earful so I simply hid my face and headed to my desk.

"Ms. Lee?" A familiar voice called my name.
"Yes Mr. Park?" I nervously smiled and looked up to see it was my boss.

"I see you submitted the analysis at 5 in the morning" he said and my teammates turned to me in shock. "Uh- yes, I stayed up a little late last night because of-" I tried to reply but he cut me off.

What is it this time ugh "You were supposed to finish it yesterday, you're around... 5 hours late" he said confidently. Doesn't he realise I pulled an all nighter so that I could show up to work today!? "Yes, sir. I'm sorry, this won't happen again" I got up and bowed.

"Yeah whatever, keep up the good work, I'll get going now" he turned to his secretary and they headed out.

That was my boss "Park Jong Seong" also known as "Jay" to his close acquaintances. He's an extremely competent and dedicated person, but at the same time- an inconsiderate, arrogant jerk.

Why would I know he's called "Jay" too? Well, it's because my grandfather eyes him out every now and then and wished he was his grandson.

I'm pretty sure my grandfather was ready to adopt him if he could, because he'd go on and on with praising him. "Jay this- and Jay that-".

He says he wished I was more like him and was envious that even though we're around the same age- "Jay" could create a name on his own and establish such a successful company, while I was frantic about getting a 9-5 job

I hope I was clear so far, I know my family makes everything sound complicated, but even I don't get it.

I got home late. Again. I had to be the one presenting tomorrow, so I needed to be the one cleaning up behind this project. I know right-? Not fair at all.

And on top of all of that, my grandfather wants to have dinner with us tomorrow. I really have too much on my plate. Why doesn't my stupid boss realise I'm working my ass off? Probably because he's too busy working himself.

Yes, I know it might not sound like it, but Mr. Park is a total workaholic. Heck, I can even guarantee he was up till 5 in the morning working too.

He doesn't even have to lift a finger, yet he spends all his time either working or torturing his employees. I mean he's not that bad... visually. That is what I'd have to agree on. Even though he's not my style, he'd definitely be considered a perfectly gorgeous guy for others.

It's pretty evident my colleagues are goo-goo gaga over him, considering they always change their voices and fix their hair when he's around. But despite being self aware and being obsessed with himself, the guy doesn't care about the female attention at all.
