"-and that is how we'll meet our targeted goal for this project. Any questions?" I looked over to the group of people eyeing me out and judging my work.
Hopefully this all nighter was worth it. "Here!" Someone raised their hand. "Moving forward, what is your contribution to reaching the targeted audience, considering the impact of this product idea is very vast?" I stopped for a moment.
It's none other than Mr. Park making my life even harder than it already is. "Well, this will be handled by the marketing team and my contribution will be the collaboration with them in the future" I bowed and finished my statement.
"Very well then." Mr. Park nodded and it seemed he was satisfied with my response. Thank goodness. This could really get me a promotion, you literally do not understand how much I need this promotion.
Grandpa invited us for dinner tonight. I have nothing to wear, absolutely nothing except dumb work clothes that make me look like I'm 40.
"Ugh- stop it Scarlett, here you go" my mom handed me a stunning red dress. "What- where did this even come from-?" I asked in confusion.
"I needed you to at least look presentable, so I went out and bought a dress for you. Can't I even do that, Scarlett?" I sighed in relief. "And that is why my mom is the best mom in the whole wide world" I hugged her. Ah, she's such a lifesaver. "Thank you so much mom!!" I squealed.
"Okay, now get off of me and go get ready, or we'll be late" my mom said and I rushed to my room and finished dressing up.
"Gosh, I have such a beautiful granddaughter" my grandpa said as I entered and took a seat.
"Thanks, grandpa!" I replied. By the way, if you didn't know, I'm on okay terms with my grandpa, because mom forces me to. I know very well that he thinks I'm a failure and he is very disappointed in me, but I don't actually care if my mom is happy with him.
My mom started chatting with him and later on I heard a car screeching. "Mom, I didn't know we were having guests-!?" I whisper shouted to my mom as I saw my literal boss enter the door.
"I didn't know you invited Mr. Park, grandpa-?" I fake smiled. To be honest, I knew grandpa hung out with Mr. Park a lot, and wasn't even surprised. But I was for sure disappointed that he even included him in family dinners now.
"Hello, sir!" He bowed to my grandpa and my mother. And I slightly bowed in return. "Look at him bring all goody with grandpa" I turned over to my mom, but she shushed me.
I mean, Mr. Park only hangs out with him for business, but now my grandpa invites him to family dinners-? That's where I cross the line.
Like I said, grandma married grandpa for his money- so she didn't have a say in what he did. That's probably why my mom doesn't like her parents. But I hate the way she still considers them as family out of "respect".
I know, it's very complicated. But moving on, all the food on the table was so fancy and disgusting. It tasted very bland. "You don't like the food, honey?" I responded with a no and continued to pretend like I was eating.
But with all this happening I choked on the little bit of food I was eating. "I want you two to get married." my grandfather bluntly said.
And for some reason- MR. PARK WASN'T SURPRISED. AND- MY MOM TOO?
"I think I misheard you" I tried to brush it off and drank a glass of water. "No, you didn't" my mom smiled and gently rubbed my back. What does she mean-!? I looked over to Mr. Park waiting for my reaction to the statement.
"I- I don't know what to say" I replied and turned to my mom " You too? You knew about this?!" I stated in utter disbelief.
"Scarlett, just calm down and hear me out" I got up from my seat "I think I'm done with this, the dinner, pretending to be a family, and all the stupid things happening right now" I turned to leave but I felt my mom grab my arm.
"Mom, seriously?" I looked back at her and then at everyone. My eyes met with him. Mr. Park. Who's apparently my "future husband". I hate how he kept on sipping the soda, while I was having a literal meltdown over my family. Didn't he care?
I sat down, only because my mom wanted me to. "Go on, I'm listening" I said and folded my arms. Unfazed by whatever anyone had to say.
"I think Jay is a great match for you, and you two would make a great pair" my grandfather said. "I need time to process everything.... Let's just- talk later, I don't want to be here" I grabbed my purse and walked to the door. But suddenly-
