Eventually, after for what had seemed liked minutes but really were hours, her alarm clock rang, and then as if on cue her mom called for her to wake up.
"Danny, honey wake up or you won't have time to get ready for school," her mother's delicate voice resounded from down the hall.
"Okay, my sweet and lovely mother!" Danny jokingly yelled back in a singsong tone through her raspy morning voice. Even after a restless night or a stressful day she would always hide her bad mood. She always did especially to her overprotective parents who would probably overreact if she so much as just frowned.
Danny knew her alarm and her mom's calls were useless, she was practically always awake before both of them. Although, it was worth it to know her mom cared, and to remind her that she had to get out of bed anyways. Finally, Danny finishes dressing, eats an simple breakfast of apple cinnamon oatmeal and is ready for school. Before she walks the short distance from her house to school, she waves a quick goodbye to her mom and dad.
To Daniella, school was just another event in the day, or a jail where kids and teens were held captive for 6-8 hours daily. She never was that school spirited, nor did she like to talk with other students. She only did what she was required to do which was to show up, pay attention, do her work, and behave. Danny had average grades, was virtually invisible to teachers and students, and spent her breaks with her head hidden behind a book inside the school library. This was her daily routine, and she didn't mind it all. The only thing that was out of the ordinary about today was that she had accidentally bumped into the new girl, Anna.
"Oh! I'm sorry about that. It was on accident! Uhm..." Anna babbled on with honest sincerity in her voice. Anna's bright, green eyes, met the girl's dull, bluish grey ones which stared at Anna blankly. Anna was silenced with the girl's humble presence, and those bluish eyes that peered right into her soul making her feel bare and uncomfortable, yet curious and intrigued. After holding each other's glance for a few seconds, the girl breaks the eye contact.
"It's fine," the mysterious girl squeaks out so quietly that Anna had almost missed the short, simple phrase. Following her reply the girl speed walked away, making it clear that she didn't want to continue the awkward conversation.
"Okay, bye! Nice to talk with you!" Anna calls out in her bubbly voice, not knowing what else to say. She finally decides to begin the long walk to her next class. After a long time of trying to memorize every freshman's name in school for about a week, Anna had never even noticed the girl. As Anna continued to walk to her next class, she begins to question herself. Perhaps she had accidentally offended the girl or maybe she bumped the girl just a bit too hard.
