Malae and Kai strolled through the bustling mall, peeking into stores along the way. It was Malae's birthday, and kai wanted nothing more than to spend it with his best friend of 10 years.
Are we going in here?" Malae groaned, her feet reluctantly following wherever the determined man led. Three hours had passed since they arrived at the mall at 1 PM, yet kai was full of energy the feeling of spoiling his best friend after pleading her to even get out the house felt great.
"Yes malae, now look around so when can get something to eat"Kai yanked the woman by her arm as he made her enter around the store marked "chanel", her eyes widened knowing how expensive the store was and that he shouldn't be spending that amount of money on just her.

"Malae the price ain nun for me,get what you want it's your day"Kai pleaded he wanted to see his best friend happy especially since shes been there from the start it was like a thank you gift from him.
"Thank you kai, I really appreciate"Malae smiled as she pulled the man into a long hug as they pulled away she fixed her mouth talk before her phone rang making her pull it out the pink mk cross bag.
"Hi baby, where are you?"Malae greeted as a small smile appeared on her face her nail drag across her plumped glossy lips as the voice on the other side spoke.
Kai frowned, she had a boyfriend. All he thought about was how could a nigga like that be able to kiss on that every night. He was a cheater, and she knew it but he was her first love so she ignored the allegations because her friends had "no proof" yet he came in with proof every night. Kisses on his neck, hickeys, perfumes she didn't wear.
Everyone knew of kai's crush on her except her. Everyone agreed he was what she needed."Are you still coming to my dinner?"With a slight furrow on her brow, Malae inquired.
"oh, well we can just do something later then ok. I lo-"Before she could finish the other end hung up making kai scoff.
"Why you still with that nigga lae"Kai questioned his gaze stuck on the frowning women, he wanted to kiss her so bad fix that frown on her pretty face. He didn't like it.
"I dont know"Malae responded with uncertainty, feeling exhausted. Despite knowing he had wronged her, she couldn't bring herself to leave because she still cared for him.
Tears welled in Malae's eyes as she recalled the sacrifices made for their relationship and pondered where things had veered off course. Just as she was about to voice her thoughts, Kai's soft lips gently met hers, catching her off guard with the unexpected gesture.
It felt good. It felt real, like he meant it. Time seemed to stand still as they experienced a rush of emotions they hadn't dared to acknowledge.
His fingers traced the curve of her cheek, a silent caress that spoke volumes, drawing her nearer, the two never wanted the kiss to end but knowing it had to kai pulled away frowning at the loss of her lips on his.
"I've had feelings for you, Malae, since our sophomore year," Kai confessed earnestly, his gaze fixed on her, searching for any response in her expression after revealing his true emotions to the woman he had a crush on.
"Kai i-, I've felt the same but you were doing so good i just bottled it up."Malae confessed a sigh of relief came from kai happy he wasn't getting rejected.
"But i don't want to be in a relationship right now"Malae frowned hoping this wouldn't shift anything in their friendship. But kai understood, he knew it would be a while before he could actually call her his but he was willing to wait.
"I'll wait foe yo ass, he dont deserve you ".
