"Lucccyyyyy! Get out of bed!" It seemed like Mara's screaming in my ear was never ending. "Alright, Alright. I'm up!" I yelled back.
I get up to face yet another day here. I should really get used to this, there's no chance of me getting adopted. I'm thirteen, and everyone wants a young child, not a troubled teenager. "Lucy, today is Saturday! You know what that means..?!" Mara said grinning.
Mara has this unrealistic vision that we WILL get adopted. Maybe thats why were best friends. Because I can't stand to see her crying every Saturday after she doesn't get adopted. Saturday's are Adoption Days.
But since only little kids get adopted, I usually just sit in my room and wait until I hear Mara's silent sobs to come out. That's how I know the day's over.
"Mara, I just don't want you to be dissapointed.." I said as kindly as I could. "Luc' don't worry, I'll be fine." Mara replied.
And with that, Mara was bouncing down the stairs waiting for the first families to come in. I heard some talking and laughing and figured the families had arrived.
"She said it was over there!" a voice rang outside my door. "No! I bet it's this one!" a different voice said.
And with that, 5 boys came barging into my room.
