A whole new world

I jumped as soon as I heard them barge through. "Um..." Was all I managed to say.

"Oops! Sorry, I thought this was the restroom!" Said one of the boys with black spikey hair. "Say, aren't you supposed to be downstairs? It's adoption day.." Said one the boy with blonde hair.

"Er, well, I'm fine up here, thanks" I replied but it came out more like a question. The five boys gave me a strange look, but quickly exited.

I sighed in relief. I'm a shy person, talking to people is not my thing. Especially when it comes to talking with boys. And five of them..well..you get the picture.

"Lucy! Lucy, get down here, there's a family waiting to meet you!" Screamed Mara from downstairs. GULP. This couldn't be good. I can't get adopted, I just can't!

I silently and slowly walked down to see Mara with the five boys who barged into my room earlier. What the heck, they're teenagers, not adults!

"Lucy, these five boys are looking for a teenage girl to adopt, and I think you fit the bill perfectly! said Mara trying to be as sweet as possible.

"Oh, um, okay..." I said. Let's face it- there is no way I was going to be adopted by them! I wouldn't do that to myself, and surely Mara wouldn't do that to me either.

"Well! Where do I sign?" said the light brown hair boy quite loudly.

"What, you were serious?!" I said raising my voice.

"Um, yes..very serious." The light brown haired one said again. "Oh, my name is Louis, by the way!"

No, no, no, no, no,no! This couldn't happen! The last time I was left alone with a man I ended up back here. Memories flashed in my head. I crammed my eyes closed to try and block them out.

"I'm sorry..I-I.." and with that I ran up the stairs into my room as fast as I could. Slamming the door shut, I crashed on my bed curling up into a ball. Tears brimmed my eyes.

No, I can't cry, tears show weakness.

Mara came into my room cradeling me as soon as she entered. "Lucy, listen, I know that I'll never understand what you've been through, and I won't try, but you've got to believe me when I say being adopted by these people will be good for you."

"Mara, I can't, I can't do it." my voice cracked and shaked as I spoke.

"Luc', I won't let this oppertunity pass you, not this time. You're going. It's already been settled. Pack your things."

Ugh! I can't believe Mara! I thought she was on my side! Grudgingly, I packed my things in a duffel bag, and slowly walked downstairs to be greeted by the 5 boys' faces.

This oughta' be good...
