Willow was jolted awake. The screeching sound of the alarm clock had awaken her. She rolled over confused, she didn't own an alarm clock. That's when she realized the sound wasn't come from her side of the room. It was coming from her roommate Mia. Mia was still sound asleep in her bed despite the loud noise filling the room. Mia hadn't moved an inch from the spot she slept in. This angered Willow.
For the last two years Willow had to share a doom room with Mia. Mia was what Willow would describe as the 'worst roommate ever'. Willow thought Mia was messy and inconsiderate. Mia wouldn't help clean up the room and would leave her trash and dirty clothes everywhere. She'd regularly invite guys over and have sex with them despite her sharing the room. Willow had had enough and this alarm clock was the final straw.
"WAKE UP" Willow yelled, but Mia seemed to be unfazed. In fact Mia rolled over in her bed to get more comfortable. Still blissfully sleeping. Willow got out of her bed and marched about six feet over to where Mia's bed sat. She began violently shaking Mia until her eyes opened. She was now staring at Willow with a disgusted look in her face.
Mia sat up to face the girl standing over her bed. "What the fuck Wendy I was asleep." Mia said angrily brushing her straight dirty blonde hair out of her face. She seemed to be unaware her alarm clock was blasting loudly throughout the room.
"Wendy?!" Willow snapped. "We've been roommates for two years, and you don't remember my name" Willow said genuinely shocked at her roommates ignorance.
Mia just rolled her eyes. She didn't care she just wanted to get back to sleep. "Whatever what do you even want."
Willow took a deep breath to calm herself down before speaking again. "Do you not hear your alarm clock blasting right now? Why do you even have it if you never wake up to it?" She asked Mia. Mia just rolled her eyes and giggled.
"Because you wake up to it silly." She said casually checking her nails then reaching for her phone. "It's like you're my alarm clock" this made Willows blood boil. All these years Mia was just setting the alarm clock to wake Willow up so she could wake her up. Thoughts of strangling Mia
flashed through her mind. She continued to do calming exercises. She thought to herself 'What would my mom say if I got kicked out of college for murder'
She calmed herself down before speaking again. "Do not do that again.
I'm not your personal alarm clock. I need my sleep." She said calmly before walking back over to her bed and sitting.
"Yeah whatever" Mia said getting up and grabbing her shower bag. "Anyway thanks for waking me up I was gonna be late for class." She said shutting her alarm off and dashing into their shared bathroom.
Frustrated Willow laid back down in her bed. She knew not a single word she had said had gotten through that thick skull of hers. She didn't wanna keep arguing though. She just snuggled up in her covers and tried to go back to sleep. The room was finally peaceful Willow thought. That was until loud pop music filled the room. Willow immediately knew where it came from. Mia was in the bathroom showering while blasting music as if the conversation they just had never happened. It was at this point Willow knew sleeping was not an option. She had to be up for class in about two hours. She just decided to wake up now. She texted her best friend Tatiana asking to meet at a nearby coffee shop in 30 minutes. Tatiana replied back instantly, agreeing to meet her friend at the coffee shop. Willow gathered her clothes and shower bag and waited for Mia to exit the bathroom.

Willow finally arrived at the coffee shop 30 minutes later. She walked to the barista and ordered a mocha Frappuccino before making her way to her favorite booth. Tatiana was already there. A latte already in her hand. She had her hair in a curly Afro puff and cute yellow sundress on. She looked happy and ready for the day. Unlike Willow whose curls lay messy on her head. She had on a brown over sized hoodie and black jogging pants, and from the look on her face she looked miserable. Tatiana noticed this. "Jesus what happened to you" Tatiana asked shocked at the state or her friend.
"Mia" was all Willow responded with. That really all she needed. Tatiana was well aware of the type of person Mia was. A lazy inconsiderate slob. Tatiana had encountered Mia many times when visiting her friend's dorm room, and every time Mia and Tatiana were in an inch of each other a fight nearly broke out.
"Seriously you still haven't dealt with her" Tatiana said rolling her eyes. The mere thought of Mia disgusted Tatiana. "I can if you want" she clenching her fist.
Willow quickly grabbed her friend's hand. "No" she said quickly "I don't need a repeat of last month" Willow said referring to last time Mia and Tatiana saw each other. She nearly ripped Mia's head clean off. "I'll just go talk to the RA and request to change roommates again."
"That'll never happen." Tatiana stated "You know Edgewater's rules. Mia's your roommate for life unless someone wants to swap with you." She grabbed Willow hand "And despite how popular she is on campus. Everyone knows how bad of a roommate she is." Willows head hit the table as she let out the loudest groan. People from other tables started to stare, but Willow didn't care. She was stuck with the worst roommate on the planet and she had no way out.
She raised her head to rest her chin on the square table. "I wish I could just move out." She said pouting.
Tatiana's eyes lit up "Well why don't you. You're a junior now you're at the grade to move off campus." Willow sat up to stare at her friend.
"You really think I can afford an apartment by myself." Willow said
"Then get a roommate. That was my friend Jin did." Tatiana said "Use roomie it's we're he met his roommate." Willow thought about it. A roommate doesn't sound like a bad idea. Instead of a small room she'd have a whole apartment to share and this time she'd actually get to pick her roommate. Instead of getting stuck with whoever is last.
"But what about the creeps" Willow asked considering rooming with someone she doesn't know could be dangerous.
"Roomies is super secure they run background checks and everything." Tatiana reassured her friend "I wouldn't tell you try something that wasn't safe." She said " I'd room with you if my scholarship didn't require me stay on campus."
"Okay I'll give it a try send me the app" Willow said to her friend. Tatiana quickly sent her the app. Willow downloaded and made her an account. Now all she had to do was wait for her background check to comeback and her hunt to begin.
