"Don't cry for me I'm not gone.

My soul is at rest, my heart lives on.

Light a candle for me to see and hold on to my memory,

but save your tears for I'm still here,

by your side through the years."

- Christy Ann Martine -

A grumpy Cybertronian medic slightly limped around the forest during the silent night, muttering under his vents.

Why, you may ask?

Let's just say that for the past weeks, the Autobot team was getting pretty exhausted with all of the failed missions and every day their energy sources were getting lower. One evening, while the other members of Team Prime were recharging, Ratchet detected an Energon cave and decided to go and gather some fuel alone. What he didn't expect after arriving at the spot, was to be already occupied by Vehicon miners. The moment the Decepticon troops spotted him, Ratchet attempted to get away as fast as possible. Before he could do so, the group of drones blocked his path and one of them shot his knee, preventing the old doctor from escaping. Ratchet tried to contact his team but it was to no avail due to the lack of signal. When he was starting to lose hope, a tiny rock fell on the ground grabbing his attention. He saw a way out, big enough for him to fit and flee.

The troops didn't even have the chance to get near him. The CMO decided to bump his entire side to the almost-about-to-crumble wall, causing the whole place to collapse. Ratchet got out in time, trapping and crushing the Decepticon soldiers inside. Afterwards, he called Optimus and the team picked him up.

But the doctor was really disappointed with himself, not only he didn't help his allies but caused more trouble than they already had to deal with.

Optimus gave him one of his serious speeches about how every member of their team's safety and health was important, and how he shouldn't have risked his life for such a task, not when he was the only medic they had.

Ratchet ex-vented at the memories. During that time, he consumed less fuel, so the others who spent most of their time on the battlefield could have it, they needed it more. He also didn't recharge at all as he searched for any kind of solution to their problem. Ratchet wasn't able to rest properly as his mind continued to trouble him, so he decided to go on a night walk. He finally sat down on a big rock next to a small river. He supported his arm on his healthy leg and rested his helm on his servo, looking at his reflection on the natural stream of flowing clear liquid, "Why I had to fail so miserably...?" he whispered as he kept staring at his troubled face-plate.
