'This is it, I'll finally be able to make a serious mark as an actress!' You thought to yourself excitedly as you read the acceptance letter.
You are from a small, run-down town- far from being anything remarkable. Being accepted into Baldur University was by far one of the greatest opportunities you've ever had!
It wasn't long before the days flew by and you had your things all packed up, saying your goodbyes to everyone through sniffles and tears. Your whole family and childhood lived in this town, everything you had ever known.
You make your way to the train station with your luggage in hand. Soon enough, your train arrives, and with a deep breath, you step on.
A new chapter begins.
You can hear the chugs and pulls of the train before it comes to a halting stop, a heavy whistle from the train as it does. Peering out from the window beside your seat, you see bustling people, vendors with pop ups everywhere, cars and buses moving left to right. There were about as many people living in your lifelong hometown just in the small several square feet setting in which you could see which greatly throws you off for a moment.
'This will be an adjustment' you think to yourself, grabbing your luggage and hopping off of the train into the busyness of the city.
Pulling up your phone and opening your map of the city, you find the college is only about a ten minute walk away from where you're at. You make your way there through the chaotic crowds and lively streets. Eventually from what you can see up ahead is the University, looking more like a palace with large black gates around the building, which had to be old. Perhaps it was even once a palace? No wonder it was such a difficult school to get into, it certainly held up the appearance.
You make it up to the front gates where you can see a swarm of other people, likely all the new students here for orientation as well. You pick up a list as you enter, stating who goes to what group and follow along. When you make it up to your group you can see a tall, fit looking woman with green complexion.
'A Githyanki? I've never met one in person before'. You and the entire town where you grew up were all made up of only humans, besides the occasional half-elf visiting family or something.
The leading staff of your group introduces themselves and begins an 'ice breaker' activity where everyone begins sharing some facts about themselves or what they are going to school to major in.
"Chk. Why must we waste time doing these pointless activities? For 'fun'?" She says out loud in a mocking and irritable manner to herself. You Shrug, "I dunno' , I guess they can be a good way to meet some new people? I'm y/n" You say and hold out your hand to hers with a smile.
She looks down at it and rolls her eyes, continuing to look forward toward the group leader as they make their way through the crowd sharing their 'fun facts'. You are all then led throughout the campus and soon through the building, which even looked like a palace from the inside! Red carpets, art and chandeliers hung throughout each hall, heavy curtains strung up upon the walls over every window. It's honestly beautiful- and makes you grateful to the gods that you somehow got fully covered financially by scholarships to be here.
"And for our last stop, we reach the dorms!" The group leader announces. The dorm buildings are a bit of a way from the University building, separated into different buildings for the men and women. Everyone then starts to go their own ways, either to explore more on campus, or to start moving themselves in.
"Really? Mine had to be on the third floor?" You sigh and start to drag your luggage up the stairs step by step. Thump. Thump. Thump. Thump-
"Heyo! Hold on!" You see this tall, built tiefling woman sprint towards you with a grin out of nowhere, almost startling you into a trip down the stairs. She reaches you and grabs the luggage- with you still holding it- and runs up the stairs as if it were nothing. She then sets you down, "Looked like you were about to die before you made it up there yourself mate!" She says with a bit of a chuckle. "I'm Karlach, the main fitness teacher and also the head of our track team if you'd like to tone up and join us!" She hands you a paper with the Track team information in huge bold words.
"Uh. Wow alright, thank you!" You say with a bit of hesitation and a nervous smile. Karlach seems nice, and scary- but really nice I think? She nods and takes off again, sprinting back towards where she appeared from before towards the sports fields. You end up making it inside your room. It is actually a lot more room than you were expecting from a dorm room, and you don't even have to share it with anyone either. You begin to unpack and make yourself at home. Having classes that start at the crack of dawn, though, you decide to cut it short and head to bed for the night a bit early.
'beep! beep! beep! beep! Bee-' Your alarm sets off at six am sharp before you spam hit the off button with a groan, rolling out of your bed. Off to start the first day of campus life. The day goes on as a fairly typical first day of any school in general. Most of your classes are just discussing the syllabus, getting the first semester of materials needed and so on. You eventually make it to one of your favorite subjects- literature. You find a place in the back of the classroom and settle in.
Once everyone is sat down, everyone looks around wondering where the professor is- suddenly there is a puff of fog at the front center of the room. Standing there now is a man in purple with longer brown hair and a beard, a wide cheesy grin across his face. "Ah! A new year and a new group of eager minds ready to learn!" He says excitedly as he looks across the room of students, the room filled with silence. He claps his hands "Wellllll let's get started I suppose!" A mage hand then grabs a stack of syllabus sitting at the front desk and starts to hand them all out one by one.
"I know you all are just beaming with excitement to introduce yourselves, as I can feel from the cold, dead, silent room" he pauses with a glance towards the general crowd, "So I will start us off, I'm Gale of Waterdeep. I'm a wizard who happens to enjoy a nice book too, and sharing my knowledge with fellow minds of literature".
For the rest of the class, he does the usual first-day explanations and reviews over what the upcoming first topics and projects will be and soon enough it's reached the end of the day. You still have your final class though, which happens to be your only night class- theater. The best for last though I suppose, at least it'll give you the most to look forward to at the end of the day.
You make your way to the theater hallroom which is clear across the university at a fairly empty part of the building. You can see some students heading into the theater room to take their seats while some peer in over the door with nervous smiles and whispers to one another.
'What are their issues?' You wonder as you walk up to the entrance and take a pause.
"Take a picture and it might last longer darling. Get in or leave could you?". A man stands at the center of the stage with a book in hand, glancing up with an amused look at the small crowd that attempted to hide that's gathered at the entrance door. You clearly blew their covers. He moves a strand of his wavy white hair aside with a sigh, a slight tone of annoyance. This must be the theater professor.
'Oh damn. He's kind of a prick. A hot prick.'
