THE PROPHECY

CHAPTER 2

          The city lights illuminated my face as we drove through the city and gradually the light dimmed as we pulled onto the highway, the trees replaced the skyscrapers of the city, and hot air was replaced by cool and fresh air giving me the feeling of content as we drove for a hour, the trees grew denser and the road for smaller, making me anxious since the outside was dark and no source of light could be seen, I caught Alaric looking cautiously through the window as the car drove into the forest.
" Mom, are we going in the right direction? I asked my eyes moving from Mom to the cold driver.
" Yes, sweetheart, we will reach in no time and Alaric stop shifting in your seat, it's the right direction," Mom said and that is when I noticed Mom's stiff shoulder and neutral expression.
" Mom, are you okay? Why do you look so stiff?" I asked making Alaric turn his body towards us as he looked at Mom in concern.
" It's nothing guys, it's just the nerves," Mom said as she tried to smile but was in vain as we could see right through her.
" Mom, everything will be alright, calm down dad will be happy to see us I guess? Alaric tried calming down Mom but instead ended up voicing out his thoughts.
" Of course, he'll be so happy that he might even bowl his eyes out, I am not worried about him," Mom said looking at us sheepishly and making us furrow our eyebrows in confusion.
Before we could ask further, the car came to a halt causing us to look at the driver and then at our surroundings, Mom got down from the car urging us to do the same, as the driver brought all our staff to where we stood.
" Mom, what's happening, why did we get out of the car, ?" Alaric asked as we both looked at her for the answer to her strange behaviour.
" I'll explain everything to you guys, for now just trust me and follow me," Mom said as she turned towards the driver and nodded before walking deep into the forest. Alaric tugged me to follow Mom to keep up with her, millions of thoughts ran through my mind making me anxious as I looked at the dense trees around me.
After walking for a while, Mom suddenly stopped causing me to look at her and then turn back to look at the car, noticing it still standing along with the driver who stood near it.
" Whatever happens after this I want to guys to remain calm, once we reach safely I promise I'll answer every question of yours, Alright?" Mom asked sounding nervous.
" Okay Mom, we will do as you say" Alaric replied to both of us, I was unable to react to her strange behaviour today, many thoughts running through my mind.
Mom nodded and turned towards the deep forest, she moved forward but it felt as if she walked through a mirror because her figure disappeared right in front of our eyes, causing me to panic and rush after her. My entire body felt as if I just passed through an invisible wall causing me to lose my footing.
" Mom, Mom" I shouted steadying myself only to trip over my foot and land on the ground as Alaric bumped into me.
" Celeste, are you alright" I heard Mom right beside making me sigh in relief as I looked at her.
" Sorry sis, I lost my balance. Mom what just happened why is the car which was just behind us now right in front of us and why does the route resemble the one from which we came" Alaric asked sounding confused as he inspected the surroundings.
When I looked through I was surprised to see the car at the same distance from us but instead of being behind it was in front of us.
" Mom, what is this place, why did I feel like I passed through an invisible wall, and where did the car in front come from" I asked her in a breath.
" I know this is confusing but that invisible wall that you said is a barrier between the human world and our world and where you are standing is our world," Mom answered.
" Barrier? Human world? Our World? Mom, your words aren't making any sense right now" Alaric said a hint of unease in his voice.
" I know sweetheart, once I tell you guys everything from the start, it will start making sense but for now let's get in the car and head home safely, it's not safe for us to stay here long," Mom said to Alaric and looked towards the car, A huge bulky man got out of the car and made his way towards us, he was taller than an average person, well built in his mid-thirties.
" Welcome back Luna" his voice was low and rough as he bowed towards my mom then his eyes moved towards me and Alaric nodding our way.
" Thank you, Jasper, it's good to be back. This is Celeste and Alaric, Guys Jasper" Mom smiled introducing us briefly.
" Let's get going," Mom said nodding towards the car, as we walked towards it, I noticed it was similar to the Range Rover but not the same, it had a completely different logo along the interior of the car, glanced at Alaric who noticed the same thing shrugged his shoulders as he opened the door for both me and mom before he was seated.
Once the car started moving I knew this was definitely not the world I knew as the trees moved in a blur yet the speed of the car didn't even exceed a normal speed limit.
