I sat there across from my old partner in crime. Miki Hawthorne or that's what he says his name is. I used to live with him, but after our final mission, the law got in between our friendship.

"So you live here." He began. "I shouldn't talk to you, y'know. Y—" Miki glared at me. "Hey, are you going call me a murderer?" He asked with a dark expression.

"Come on we're in the same boat anyway." I countered. "I'm not a murderer." He yelled abruptly standing up. I stood my ground by staying seated.

"Why must you always act like this?!" he yelled at me. I stayed seated. "Live your truth." I teased. "I'm not playing," Miki uttered sitting back down.

"What are we then?" I asked sitting up straight. "We have a task." He ignored me.
"We have to bring all of the presents in the garage to your old house," he stated. "That's What I thought." I scowled before getting up.
——————————♡︎☾𖤍----------------------
In my 3 years of living with Red I have never really been into the garage, so that was new. "So, um are you still with Jean" Miki questioned carrying a large box. "Yeah, one day we're going get married," I muttered in response. Joking.

"So I hear you do this every year," he asked this time carrying a lot of envelopes. "I suppose. Though I rather work on a case." I responded feeling more comfortable.

After that, we didn't talk to each other; We just loaded Miki's car best of our ability. It only took 3 1/2 hours to declare ourselves officially done.

"We finished earlier than expected." We both said in unison. "..." followed by complete silence.

"You don't have to come," Miki said closing his trunk door. "I have a choice?"

"I guess I don't want to force people to do things. Anymore. I'm changing maybe because this year is stressful."

"What's so stressful for you?" I jokingly asked. "High school. We're applying for colleges already." He replied with a grin. My mouth hung wide open. "Wait Miki your in high school?!" I yelled shocked.

"Yeah. I just turned 18 not too long ago." He smugly replied. "And you just applied for Colleges," I stated closing my mouth. "I'll be on my way now," Miki said with a bright smile.

"I'll go for the second round, You're a nice...," I added with another smile. Miki turned around before he got into his car and said "I'm gender-fluid." Then got inside and drove away.

I WAS FLOORED. I'VE KNOWN THEM FOR YEARS AND THEY DIDN'T SAY A THING.

My head was pounding, so I closed the garage door and made my way upstairs.?
When I got upstairs, I plopped on my bed. "I was living a lie." I sighed.

A little voice popped into my head saying
"Who is anyone?" I didn't know the answer and didn't care to learn.. so I did nothing.

"What's anything if I don't know myself," I replied a minute later. "I guess that's somewhat true." The little voice stated, before disappearing entirely.
