After I woke up in that crater, I picked up Teko princess style. She was heavy, but not nearly as heavy as my heart felt. I decided it would be better to take her to a hospital than to the Sora estate, since I didn't know what would happen if she recalled her identity.
I walked away from the crater where our house once stood. The seconds felt like hours walking to the hospital, and everything seemed to move more quickly as I trudged on. But still, I didn't stop.
But unbeknownst to me, there was someone in the bushes next to the crater.
"I wasn't sure what would happen in that bloodbath," The figure recalled, "but to think the Icy Blade was so powerful... I guess it's my time to help her now that Kusari Hoshi is gone. I won't let another War of Two Powers to occur again. Ever."
The mysterious figure vanished into the forest with those words.
I made it to the hospital after a while of walking and went straight up to the front desk. It was late at night already, so barely anyone was there. The receptionist looked up, and her eyes widened. She picked up the phone and dialed a number. I couldn't see the phone myself, but I could hear the dial tones. Still, I couldn't decipher them since she pressed them so quickly.
"Hello?! We have a situation on our hands! A girl with blue hair came in with another girl's corpse!" She yelled in panic.
"She's not a corpse... she's just asleep right now." I sighed.
"What are you-? Oh." The receptionist looked disappointed, as if she wanted Teko to be dead.
"OK. Sorry about that, I tend to be too cautious... Maybe I should get a different job..." She sighed.
"I'd say that being cautious is a good thing." I replied, "It can save you from a lot of danger and heartbreak."
The receptionist smiled, "Thank you for that encouragement."
I should have adhered to those words myself before I jumped in. Maybe Onee-sama would still be alive. I thought with remorse.
"Well, should we get this sleeping beauty to a bed?" She asked.
"Thank you," I said, "for helping her."
"This is a hospital, silly! Of course we'll help her." She reassured me.
"Thank god... I'll visit from time to time. Please, take good care of my best friend..." I started walking away.
The automatic door opened to show a clear, starry sky. It was so beautiful, but it just made me feel more miserable now that I had lost my Onee-sama, my pillar. I would also have to start doing more assassin jobs to pay for my tuition and living expenses. I wanted to cry, but no tears fell.
"Rain would be great right now..." I mumbled as I started trudging back to the Sora estate.
