I went back to the house the moment his cars disappeared from our street. I found Mum looking excited. I raised a brow.

"I have a good feeling about this", she said, making me shake my head. "Oh really? Is that why you told him to come 'hang out' in my room?", I asked, making her roll her eyes at me. "Oh, come on, you need to know each other better, and that was a nice start. Right Tony?", she asked Dad, who seemed deep in thought.

"Dad? You ok?", I asked, bringing him back to reality.

"Yeah, I just can't believe you're engaged, that's all. You barely know the man, and why would he have that many cars? Who is he?", he said, pulling me in a hug.

"What do you think? Is he a good guy or a mafia leader?", Mum asked, making me furrow my brows. No secrets in this house at all. "What do you mean mafia? Do you think he's into that kind of thing?", he asked, looking worried.

"No! Your daughter had a dream about him being in the mafia, just like in those romantic books I was telling you about", she said, sounding too excited. "Jenny, you need to tone that down a bit", he said, making her furrow her brows.

"So what next? Are you going to quit your job and move away with him?", Dad asked, and honestly, I didn't think that far ahead. "I don't know. I'll ask him. He said he would tell us everything the moment I agreed to marry him; I guess I could ask him that", I said, and we all agreed and went to bed.

I was almost sleeping when my phone rang, and it was a weird number. Definitely not the same area code. I answered it, preparing myself for a scam call.

"Hello, future wife. Are you asleep yet?", Kazuki asked. I looked at the number again, then put the phone on my ear. "How did you get my number? Wait... your number is weird", I said, making him chuckle. "I guess that means not yet", he said, making me feel guilty. "Sorry, I'm not asleep", I said, turning to the other side of the bed.

"I want you to know that I'm grateful to you. I don't know what I would have done if you withdrew my proposal", he said, making me smile. It kinda felt good to be wanted this way. "Well, I hope you won't make me regret it", I said. "I would never. I promise you", he said, sounding determined.

"So can I ask you about where you're coming from?", I asked. "I have a better option, how about I show you?", he said. "How?", "If you and your parents could request for some time off work by tomorrow, we could leave the day after and go to my homeland. I've informed them of your acceptance, and they're eager to meet you", he said, shocking me to my core.

"Kazuki! You know I can't just up and leave like that? Besides, you sound like a creep for asking me that. Do you plan on kidnaping us?", I asked, earning a chuckle.

"I would never dream of harming you or your parents, my future wife. But I understand your concern. I guess I have to welcome your suggestion then. How do you propose we do this?", he asked. "I don't know. Let me sleep on it, and I'll tell you tomorrow", I said, and he hummed. "Have a pleasant night, my future wife", he said, then hung up.

What have I gotten myself into? What if he was a shady guy, and I just agreed to be the mafia queen? Better yet, what if he's a scam and he's planning on kidnapping us and selling us in a black market?

Shit!

The Next Day

"I honestly don't mind going on an adventure", Mum said after I told them what Kazuki proposed. "I have an idea. We can put 'track my phone' on, then I put it in my bag and tell Mindy to track me from when we leave, and if she doesn't hear from us, she is to report Kazuki to the popos", Mum said, making me look at Dad. He was nodding.

Why was he nodding?

"You're really considering this? What the hell?", I asked, feeling like I was about to lose my mind. "Fuck!", I said, making them look at me, ready to scold me for cursing out loud. Then someone knocked on the door.

We knew who it was. He must have gone to work and found that I left early.

Mum practically ran to the door and opened it with a huge smile. "Hello, son, welcome", she said, and he returned her smile. "Thank you.", he walked in and shook Dad's hand, then kissed my forehead.

It was kind of embarrassing.

"How are you, my future wife?", he asked. "I'm ok", I said, looking anywhere but at him. "Have you informed Anthony and Jennifer about the travel plans?", he asked. "Yes, she has, and I will inform my boss tomorrow", Mum said with an eye that said, 'Don't you dare say a word'. "That's marvelous. I'll call the pilot immediately and inform him of our departure the day after tomorrow. Thank you for trusting me. I promise you won't regret it", he said with excitement, then left.

"Jenny! We were not done talking", Dad whined. "I'm sorry, but you need to trust me on this", she said, making me roll my eyes. "We're doomed", I said, then went to my room. We already had dinner, so there was nothing left to talk about.

Flying to Nowhere

"This is so delicious, sweetie. Try it. I know you love chocolate, come on", Mum said while we were in Kazuki's private jet. It's been six hours, and I still don't know where we're going, but I seem to be the only one who cares. Dad is having the time of his life tasting every alcohol he's been offered by the air hostesses. At the same time, Mum is on her hundredth snack.

"Not a fan of planes?" Kazuki asked, almost killing me with shock. "Was the plan to kill me when we're on air?", I asked with my hand on my heart. "I apologise. You just looked uncomfortable, and I wanted to know why", he asked, looking genuinely concerned. "I'm scared. I hate planes and water, so yeah", I said while looking at Mum. It made Kazuki smile. "They seem to be doing alright, so who's fault is it?", he asked, making me smile. "It's a me thing", I said, making him chuckle.

"Thank you for agreeing to come with me. I understand that it was a difficult choice, but you trusted me either way. I appreciate it", he said, then kissed my forehead. I was about to answer when I heard the loudest snore I've ever heard in my life, making me turn only to see Dad passed out on his chair.

"Oh my god! I'm so sorry for this", I said, looking at an amused Kazuki. "Not a problem at all, he deserves some time to let loose, and so do you", he said with a wink.
