"Mom!"Eunsook slammed the door and threw her shoes off to the side before rushing to the living room where her mother was putting ointment on Taehyung's hand. The two looked up at her while Eunsook tried to make sense of what was happening.
"I-I heard you were attacked!" She ran and kneeled before her mother to check her for any injuries. Her heart was pounding in her ears. "Are you okay? Are you hurt anywhere? Did police catch-"
"I'm fine, my daughter. Taehyung must've exaggerated things when he called you," she clicked her tongue. "The one you should worry about is Taehyung. He jumped in front of me to stop the robber and this happened!" She lifted the boy's hand, making him wince. Bright red blood was still oozing out from in between dried dark blood from the cut on his palm.
"Mrs. Oh, please-"
Eunsook grabbed his hand to examine closer, making him exclaim in pain.
"Ow! You psycho, hold it gently!"
"I-I'm sorry," she immediately apologized with a flinch and gently traced around his wound with a deep frown. Seeing him hurt like this made her heart squeeze in pain and imagining what would have happened made dread slither around her shaking heart. "Did the robber attack you with a knife?"
"Well... it's all good now," Taehyung murmured, shifting in his seat from how gentle Eunsook suddenly got. "The man was arrested so you don't have to worry. Your mom is safe."
"We should go to the hospital," Eunsook said, meeting his eyes with a firm gaze. "You should get treated properly, Tae."
"That's what I said," her mother sighed.
"I'm fine. It's nothing-"
"Come on," Eunsook cut his nonsense off and grabbed his other hand to pull him to the door.
"Sook-"
"Shut up and follow me. You think I'll let this be?"
Taehyung paused and widened his eyes at the way her voice trembled. Wordlessly, he followed her and let her take him to a hospital for treatment. Unknown to her, the nurse also found a wound on his torso and it shocked her when he came out with a bandage around his body.
"Are you kidding me?! Tae!"
Taehyung cowered in guilt. "I just didn't want to worry you... I was going to bandage it when I got home."
Heat rushed to her face from the immense anger she felt, but when she opened her mouth to vent, she was at a loss of words. Screaming at him wouldn't change a thing. He literally saved her mother so shouldn't she be thanking him instead? Did she even say at least one word of gratitude?
That thought mixed with the fear of losing him if something went horribly wrong made her wrap her arms around his shoulders as gently as possible and sigh into his neck while his eyes popped out in surprise. Her breath on his skin made his own hitch and catch in his chest.
"Thank you..." she whispered. "Thank you so much for saving my mom. But Tae, please don't treat yourself like this. You're important to me, too. I don't know what I would do if something terrible happened to you."
Taehyung held her closer, heart trembling. "Nothing terrible will happen to me, Sook. I'm sorry."
"If you're sorry, then you're getting admitted into this hospital now."
Taehyung blinked a few times and broke the hug, moving away. "Huh?"
Eunsook frowned. "I'm not taking a no."
