Shawn kind of forced him to do it because he was tired of the awkwardness between you two.
"Come on, Cory, she obviously likes you back." Shawn reassured his nervous friend. "But what if she doesn't and I ruin our friendship?" Cory said while fidgeting with his fingers. Shawn just rolled his eyes and dragged him to your house.
"Here we are. Remember, just say what I told you too." Shawn said while ringing the doorbell and running away to hide somewhere and watch.
Soon the door opened at there you were, in all your glory. "Oh, hi Cory!" You said to him. "Umm, hi, I have something to tell you." Cory said nervously. "What is it?" You said while smiling at him, making him more nervous than before.
"I have had a crush on you for awhile now," He paused. "Will you be my girlfriend?" He said while slightly turning away, scared about your answer. "Of course! I like you too!" You said while hugging him. "Wait- really?" Cory said. "YES!" You heard from a bush. Shawn popped out and congratulated you two.

After months of Cory begging either one of you to confess, Shawn finally gave in and decided to face one of his biggest fears.
Cory told you to go to the park you and Shawn usually go to, and that you will find a surprise. This of course piqued your interest and you were currently on your way to the spot.
There, you saw Shawn sitting down on a bench, obviously waiting for someone. "Shawn? Cory told me to go here and that I will find a surprise. Do you by any chance have anything to do with this?" You asked him. "Yes, actually, it was my idea." He said standing up to face you. "Oh." Was all you said, waiting for an explanation.
"I wanted to ask if you would like to be my girlfriend." Shawn straightforwardly asked. You stood there in shock for a few seconds. Shawn unfortunately took that the wrong way and began to apologize. "I'm sorry for asking, just forget abou-" "Of course I would like to be your girlfriend!"
