December 10 1988 , His heart pounded heavily as he awoke up. His memory was hazy, the last fragments of recollection consisting of his cozy farmhouse and a day spent in his fields.
His eyes adjusted to the dim, glow of the cave. The oppressive silence was shattered only by the constant dripping of water. Despair clung to him like a shroud in the suffocating darkness.
A guttural growl echoed through the cave, freezing him in his tracks. His heart raced as he fled deeper into the labyrinthine passages. The symbols etched into the walls only deepened his sense of dread.
Following the sound of water proved to be his only source of hope. It led him to a closed gate, where an axe lay nearby. With trembling hands, he shattered the chain securing the door.
Emerging from the cave, Max found himself in an unknown village, shrouded in the darkness of night. A woman and a young girl walked along the cobblestone path. Driven by a maddening impulse, he approached them and asked, "Are you searching for the worm?" He then recited a bizarre stanza, one he'd never heard before: "The worm will wiggle and hide away, crawl him out and see him play."
Without understanding why, Max raised the axe menacingly and moved towards them, his intentions twisted by some malevolent force.
