On friday night Martha makes her way over to Alex' and Dan's house. It's pouring rain and she's already running a bit late because her Vespa had some trouble starting.
She knows she should've opted for a different type of transportation in this weather, but her car is in the garage to get some new tyres, so her Vespa is her only option right now.
While the blonde haired girl is waiting at the light only two streets away from her home, her Vespa suddenly loses power. Internally the girl curses. Why now of all times? Why does this never happen on a sunny day for example? With all her might she rolls the vehicle on the side walk.
She takes of her helmet and hangs it around the handles of the scooter. The rain pours down on her hair, now that its only protection is gone. Quickly the girl tries to find some shelter at the entrance of a store and takes out her phone to call Alex.
"Hello Martha, is everything alright?" he says once he picks up.
"Hi Alex, I'm sorry but I'll have to cancel," Martha answers. "My Vespa just broke down and my car is at the garage,"
"Do we need to pick you up? Where are you?"
"No it's okay, I'm only two streets away from home and I'm going back. You stay with your guest, I'll meet him some other time, I promise,"
"It's okay Mar, just take care alright?" Martha can hear the worry in his voice. "Let me know when you get back home,"
The two friends say their goodbyes and hang up. After the call Martha makes her way back to her scooter. With a big sigh she pushes it and starts her way back home, rain still pouring down on her.
When she's only one street away from her house, the raindrops suddenly stop falling down on her but around her it's still pouring.
Confused she stops walking and looks to her left. There, the most handsome man to ever grace this earth stands, with a bright smile on his face and umbrella in his hand."Are you alright Miss, can I help?" the man asks and Martha is sure that if she wasn't holding her scooter, her knees would give in and she'd be on the ground. He has a slight foreign accent, which makes him even more attractive. "Do you need a lift home?" His dark brown eyes watch her expectantly.
The blonde girl tries to find her voice. "N-no thanks, I live just around the corner,"
"At least let me help with that," he nods towards her Vespa, "Here take my umbrella. I'll walk you home," The stranger pushes the umbrella in her hands and takes the scooter from her.
Due to the slight hight difference between Martha and the man, the umbrella doesn't cover him completely anymore and the blonde girl quickly holds it a bit higher.
"Thank you," she smiles at the man and he throws a smile back in her direction.
Together they start walking towards Martha's house in silence. Martha really doesn't know what to say, she's totally flabbergasted. Leave it to her to meet someone straight from the magazines while looking like a drenched cat.
Once they reach her place, Martha opens the gate to the small garage space and the man rolls her vespa inside.
"Thanks again," the blonde girls says, while handing the umbrella back. "Can I offer you something to drink as a thank you?"
Instantly she regrets the questions. Who in her right mind invites a stranger inside her home?
The stranger's dark brown eyes find hers and the corners of his lips curl up. "I'd love to, but I'm already running late. So I really have to go,"
"Oh okay," the girl smiles. "Well then I'll just thank you again,"
The man smiles and says goodbye. While Martha watches him walk away, she realizes she never got his name, making her groan. She feels so stupid right now, she meets the most gorgeous and charming man on this planet and doesn't even ask for his name.
