Kennedy's POV- 7 years ago
Why did Madison act like she knew me? Do I know her? So many questions and no one to ask.
I'm walking on Park Avenue when all of a sudden I hear a loud scream. I look up to see a woman get mugged. A boy about my age tries to stop the man mugging her but ends up just getting punched in the stomach. I should just keep walking. It's none of my business. I go to keep walking till the boy's voice stops me.
" Wait! Please help us! That man just took a family heirloom!" The boy looks to me with desperation in his eyes. I've got two options here: 1. To stop the man or 2. To keep walking acting like I heard and saw nothing. Oh who am I kidding? " Ok. I'll try to find him. Just stay here and don't move till I get back." I race off in the direction of the mugger till I catch up to him in a dark alley. " I don't believe that belongs to you. So why don't you give it to me and go on your sad little way."
" Who the hell do you think you're talking to little girl? Why don't YOU go on your little way before you get hurt." He attempts to push past me. Key word attempts. In three seconds, the man is on the ground crying in pain. " Would you prefer I make you hurt even more?" I smile at his suffering. " I told you to just give the bag to me but you just had to go and call me a little girl. Little did you know this little girl can take down a man 10 times her size with a swish of a finger." I step past him and pick up the bag. I search in there and try to find the heirloom. I was glad I read the woman's mind before going because if I hadn't I would've had no idea what to search for. I searched in all the pockets but couldn't find it. I turn to the man still crying on the ground. " Where is the necklace?" I exclaim with a menacing glare, " I know you have it or i would have found it in the purse. So where is it?" I kick him in his midsection until I am satisfied with the sickening crunch that follows. " It's in my pocket. Here. Take it please." He throws the necklace and before it crashed to the ground I use telekinesis to lift it up. "What are you some kind of witch?" He says before I can leave the alley. " No I'm worse than a witch, I'm your worst nightmare" And with that I leave the alley making my way towards the boy and the woman.________________________________
I finally make it back to the people with the necklace and purse in hand.
" Is this what you were looking for?" I ask holding the items up.
" Yes! Thank you so much." The boy rushes up to me to retrieve the items. I hand him the stuff and go to walk away. " Wait where are you going? Isn't there anything you would like as payment for helping us?
" No I'm good thank you." I go to walk away when he puts his hand on my arm stopping me from leaving. " Are you sure? At least let us take you to lunch. Please as a way to say thank you?"
And that's how I ended up at the Hillstone Restaurant, where the elite and rich eat. Who are these people? I couldn't just turn down a free meal, when I don't know when I'm going to get my next one. My only goal is to get food for the next week. I guess it wouldn't hurt to make their pockets hurt. The boy's voice pulls me out of my thoughts. " I hope you don't mind us bringing you here. It was the closest place we could find." I look at him with a bored expression. " Um so anyways, My name is William Thorpe or as my friends call me Will. This is my mother, Marissa Thorpe." I freeze when he says his mom's name. " Wait as in Marissa Jade Thorpe? Formerly known as Marissa Jade Roberts?" They both look at me with a confused expression. " Yes. I'm that Marissa Thorpe. How do you know me though?" She says eyeing me suspiciously, " Was this a ploy to get my attention? I'll have you know that I'm in no need of an assistant or an intern and you can't prove me otherwise." She acts like this isn't the first time this has happened. Weird. " Um, no, I'm not interested in that. I know you from being the most powerful and successful woman on the planet and the fact that I aspire to be just like you. I had no idea who you were until he said your name." I stare at her in awe, trying to keep my emotions in check in order to keep my eyes from changing colours. " Oh well, in that case, thank you for those kind words. Shall we order some appetisers? I hear the spinach and artichoke dip is amazing here. " She says enthusiastically calling over the waitress. While she's ordering, I glance over at Will and catch him staring but he doesn't back down when I catch him. I lift my eyebrow up at him as if questioning him. " If I hadn't asked you to help us would you have?"
" I'd like to say yes but I've been trying to keep a low profile so most likely not. But I would've regretted it instantly because that's not the type of person I am." He just looks down at his hand for awhile before saying, " That's understandable. Would you have turned around and came back to check on us if we were still there after you felt guilty?"
" My what's with all the questions? Yes I would have turned around and checked on y'all." I look down at the menu and look to the waitress knowing my order already. " I would like spinach and artichoke dip, a cheeseburger with nothing but extra cheese and ketchup, fry the pickles and put them on the side and a side of fries with extra seasoning and make sure they are the right amount of soggy. Also I would like honey mustard for my sauce. One more thing, a plate of 'Osaka style' pressed sushi. That's all thank you." I finish looking up at two amused faces. " What? I ask becoming self conscious about my order.
" Nothing. Just the fact you picked the dishes with the most amount of food. And we can't be here all day to watch you eat it." I smile. " Oh I don't plan on eating it all. I plan on saving some of it for later." Will and his mother laugh and he orders his food.
After eating and paying for the food we head out. " Thank you for the meal. I thoroughly enjoyed it and will be eating good for the rest of the week."
" No problem."
I turn to leave after saying goodbye and chatting for a while.
" Wait, " Will says, " I never got your name."
" Kennedy. My name is Kennedy."
" Well, Kennedy, could I get your number? I had fun hanging out with you."
" I don't have a phone. I have a computer so I can give you my email."
" You are one weird girl, Kennedy. How do you have a computer but not a phone?" he says with a chuckle.
" I don't know." I give him my email and we say our final goodbyes. I think I made an actual friend today. Look at me socializing. I never thought it would happen.
