"..It's time to Get Up, Ryu."

Their voices echoed in my dreams.

Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein.

They stood a decent distance from me as their appearances rapidly flickered, their attire constantly changing in a blur albeit never deviating from the fits that they brought up to the stage with them in the past - with their faces being the only part of their persons that remained relatively unchanged.

"What.. do you mean?"

I asked them, surveilling our surroundings which seemed to resemble visions of the past, and the unforeseeable future that I had seen just moments before - still enveloped in a sense of promise and uncertainty.

Yet, as the girls' mysterious whispers gradually faded to silence, I'd find my consciousness once again slipping away from me.

Then, once I opened my eyes, the familiar surroundings of my old family home were nowhere to be found. Instead, I was lying down on cold asphalt, in the middle of what seemed to be a big and bustling city - the eerie glow of the streetlights bathing my tired eyes.

"Okay then.."

I muttered to myself as I sat up, my confused expression having a hint of sarcasm. I broke out an anxious smirk - not exactly sure as to where I was, why I ended up here to begin with, or how to even react to the situation at hand.

"..Where the hell am I?"

I questioned afterward, becoming unsettled shortly after as my voice reverbed along like a lone cry in the middle of the night - in stark contrast to the haunting presence of the girls from my recent encounters, who often chimed in with their gentle voices before any sense of quiet crept in.

"It's freezing too, jeez.."

I commented as I rubbed my arms, noticing that dashes of cool breath also emitted from my mouth every time I spoke - signs of a cool ambiance that did not belong in my home country, even when the ethereal snowflakes fell upon it.

Granted, I already doubted that I was at home to begin with, considering the towering skyscrapers and cityscapes nearby.

"My hometown could never have this kind of skyline.."

At this point, I felt a sense of confusion gradually overcoming me as I tried to piece together why I was in this desolate place, far from the comforting nostalgia of my old house.

Even the sceneries of the dreams I previously had with the girls of NewJeans, where I was often able to easily figure out the purpose behind each and every setting, never felt as random as the one at present.

"Just a second I was at my old home, and now-"

I complained, getting up onto my feet and taking a step forward, only to quickly stop in my tracks. Looking down, I noticed that the concrete expanse I woke up on was long enough to give off the illusion that it stretched infinitely.

"And these white lines.. Am I where I think I am?"

I said, my already disoriented state becoming all the more perplexed, and partially unbelieving, at thought of me waking up in the middle of the road.

Yet, a few seconds later, any doubts I had of such a scenario were quickly disproved as I heard the sound of a blaring horn and the sight of blinding lights speedily nearing from behind.

"Huh?"

Having just taken into account that I was practically standing in the middle of the road on a dark night, my mind took a lot longer than it really should have to realize that the sudden horn and lights were actually coming from an incoming car.
