The Best Is Yet To Come

On My Lane

Pathway got to the office for the interview, she sat in front of a lady, the consular officer who was about to interview her.

"Good morning" the lady said

"Good morning ma" Path responded

"You look very familiar, what's your name?" The lady asked

"My name is Pathway Ajibade" Path said with so much joy in her heart

"You mean the same Pathway? Like Pathetic? Wrongpath? You're the girl that was trying to get famous by lying against my D.baba" the lady said

"I told you all that it was all a mistake" Path said as she suddenly became very sad

"Oh that's okay" the lady said as she gave Path a letter

"You denied my visa??!!" Path said in shock as she opened the letter

"You are a criminal! You have a bad record for defamation of character, we don't want you to ruin another country's reputation"  the lady said

"Why are you people so evil??" Path said as tears rolled down her cheeks

"Next please" the lady called the next person.

Pathway got home that day feeling frustrated, she wrote a letter to her parents, she then carried a big rope and tied it tightly around her room ceiling fan, she put a stool beneath the fan, climbed on it as she tried to hang herself but a call suddenly came in.
She looked down while holding the rope as she was about to hang it around her neck... She looked down to check who was calling her, she saw a private number, she came down from the stool, went to pick her phone from the table and picked the call.

"Hello, who is this?" Path asked in anger and frustration

"This is D.baba" D.baba replied

"Why did you call me? Please I'm on my lane o" Path said

"As much as I know you don't want to have anything to do with me, I have a job offer for you in my company" D.baba said

"Why do you want to offer me a job? You are not even that nice, you want to get more famous abi? Please I'm not in for this, I'm still facing a lot" Path said

"The pay will be worth it, your salary will be 120k per month" D.baba said

"I'm not interested" Path said

"Was expecting you to say that but nevertheless, if you suddenly become interested, meet me this Friday by 2pm at SJ's house, at least no one will see us together outside, I will text you his address and the number to call me through right away, bye." D.baba said as he ended the call.

Path dropped her phone, sat on her bed and started thinking, after a few minutes she dozed off.
After like two hours, her mother entered her room and woke her up.

"Path why are you sleeping? I thought you should be celebrating yourself since you are leaving Nigeria" Path's mother said

"Mommy good afternoon" Path said

"Good afternoon my love, how was your interview?" Path's mother asked smiling

"I was denied my visa" Path replied

"You were what?? Are you joking ni?" Path's mother asked looking troubled

"Mommy I'm not joking" Path replied as she started crying

"Why? What happened?" Path's mother asked as she started crying too

"Because of D.baba again" Path replied crying

Path's mother fell to ground and started screaming as she kept crying.

"God!!! Why??!!! Why make us suffer??? My daughter didn't even intentionally want to spoil D.baba's reputation naw!! It was Peter that caused it!!! Lord why didn't you stop that boy from posting that thing on the internet that day??? Lord it would have been better if you had spoilt the laptop before he could publish it!!!!! God why!!! My plan was that if my daughter left Nigeria, things would get better for us and she would even take us to meet her there!!! No job employment here because of D.baba, why??!!!! This is unfair, show mercyyyyy!!!!!!!!" Path's mother said screaming and crying
