Ivy Parker had always felt out of place.Despite her unique personality and good fashion sense, she only had a few close friends in her circle. But that's all she needed.
She was an only child, with just her dad to take care of her. They had been living in Salem all their lives. Her dad owned the local coffee shop so she would usually pass there on her way to her job every morning. Which was in the local witchy shop. It sold crystals, insense, tarot cards and much more. It was her safe place and it was where she could relax away from most people.
She had always felt there was much more to life than how she lived. Although she was extremely grateful. There was a deep feeling in her being. Telling her that she was destined for so much more.
Her mum had died when she was young but the small memories she did have of her were happy and held a special place in her heart.
It was the day before Halloween when her best friend Regina was meeting with her for lunch. It was slightly raining but the winds were high and would make anyone shiver. Most of the leaves had fallen, leaving the ground covered in red, orange and yellow leaves. Ivy was wearing a red scarf. She had spotted Regina sat on a wooden bench by the oak tree. She approached carefully. Her head was hidden within a book. It looked from a distance to be a romance novel. But it also looked a little spooky too.
'Hey Regina!' Cried Ivy, a smile on her face. Regina looked up and closed her book shut. She had dark hair and her fashion was drawn towards gothic wear. Not many people understood her too but the two of them had bonded in high school and had been glued together ever since.
'Oh Ivy! You seem a little unsettled today' said Regina, reading deeper into her expression.
Ivy was slightly confused. 'No.. I feel good' replied Ivy, almost disappointed.
'Perhaps it's just the moon' replied Regina, now standing and looking up into the sky. Ivy chuckled a little in response. They linked arms and started walking towards town centre.
'Good book?' Asked Ivy, gently. Regina nodded.
'It's good although quite predictable if anything. Oh how I'd love to be swept off my feet by a handsome stranger' said Regina with a beaming smile.
Ivy giggled. 'Be careful what you wish for!' Replied Ivy, smiling at her best friend.
'Nice dress by the way! Is it new?' Asked Regina, checking out Ivy's gothic dress.
'Yes actually, I picked it up this morning' said Ivy, with a smile.
Ivy liked to switch up her style so she wouldn't always wear the same thing. Her dad was mostly supportive but when she would wear witchy and gothic clothing, he would sometimes be difficult.
'Well it's gorgeous on you!' Said Regina, smiling.
'Thank you Regina! You always look beautiful!' Replied Ivy. 'Aww thank you!' Cried Regina.
They walked into the town and reached the cafe which they would go to when Ivy didn't feel like seeing her dad. It was called Witches brew.
'Are you sure your alright?' Asked Regina, after a while of silence.
Ivy met her worried face and tried to smile.
'It's just another Halloween...' whispered Ivy, deep down feeling upset.
Regina took her hand. 'I have just the thing!' Said Regina, suddenly.
Ivy blinked, not expecting her to bubble up with so much energy all of a sudden. Then she realised what she was about to say.
Regina pulled out a familiar flyer. Her smile growing as she showed it to her.
'No, no way!' Cried Ivy, shaking her head.
'Come on!!! We've been putting off for years! .. and I also hear there's a good scarer there' said Regina, trying her best to convince her friend.
'It's a scare park Regina! Plus we don't exactly go to that part of town..' said Ivy, speaking quietly.
'I know but I know a few fellow goths from that part of town so we will be safe' replied Regina.
Ivy still looked unsure but she could tell she wasn't going to win this battle.
'Fine but just this once!' Cried Ivy, trying not to show her smile. Regina smiled greatly.
'Yes!! Great, I'll go and get us tickets and I'll pick you up tonight!' Said Regina, happily.
'Wait tonight?' Asked Ivy, not realising she meant tonight.
'Well of course! Tomorrow is the last night to go until next year, so we have to make the most of it' replied Regina, getting all excited.
'But we are only going tonight right?' Wondered Ivy.
Regina raised her eyebrow and smirked slightly. Ivy sighed in defeat.'Well I better pick a good outfit for tonight and tomorrow then' said Ivy.
The two of the them ordered lunch and sat happily in the comfy cafe.
While Ivy's mind drifting off elsewhere thinking of all the possibilities that could happen tonight.
