Winter joined Tommy and Tubbo at the gates, her L'Manberg uniform newly made after the old one was destroyed. This time, she had a dark blue one instead of the pastel she had worn before, now matching everyone else. It gave her a sense of pride.

XD help us. Winter thought as Wilbur walked up to her. Despite her pride, she was still realistic. She knew that their chances were slim.

“Winter, are you sure you want to come?" Wilbur asked, his brows knitted together in worry. He placed a hand on her shoulder. He was so worried, not just because she had been seriously injured, but her.. condition as well. Dream could not find out.

"Yes, I'll be fine," Winter said, smiling up at her brother. She knew what he was worried about, and he had every right to be. No matter how much she had trained, she still couldn’t control it. Winter hugged him quickly before turning back to the group.

"Are you ready to get our independence?"

Dream's POV:

I walked towards the clearing we were meeting in. Sapnap and George were arguing behind me, but I paid no attention. I was more focused on the task at hand.

Getting the discs.

And making sure L'Manberg didn't get its independence.

I would make sure of that. Sapnap and George would be mad if I told them my plan but I didn't care. If it meant keeping control, I didn't mind playing dirty. I reached into my pocket, making sure I had it. My hand made contact with the wooden body of the totem, then the cold emerald eyes.

Cheating? Maybe. But what was a little cheating to keep the balance? I pulled my hand out of my pocket as we walked into the duel grounds. This was going to be easy.

End Dream’s POV

No matter how much Winter believed in Tommy, she couldn't stop the thoughts of him dying from racing through her head.
There's no way he can win. Winter forced herself to know that. Dream was just better. And no amount of belief could change that.

Wilbur stood in the middle as Tommy and Dream stood back to back.

"1."
Why was Tommy doing this?
"2."
He can't win.
"3."
He's going to die.
"4."
I can't stop it.
"5."
I can't protect him.
"6."
He's going to lose another life.
"7."
Why would he do this?
"8."
He puts himself and what he loves most on the line.
"9."
Why?
"10 paces, fire!"

Tommy whirled around and fired, barely missing his mark. Maybe I underestimated him… Winter thought, leaning forward with anxiety and excitement. Dream's arrow thunked into the wooden path as Tommy threw himself into the water, reloading his bow. Tommy let his arrow fly, but...

Winter watched as Dream's arrow flew towards Tommy's chest.

"No!" She lurched forward as the water turned red. Her knees hit the damp grass beneath, her heart breaking as she watched Tommy’s body dissolve. He only had one more life left.

Winter saw Dream smile, rage filling her veins, as Tommy woke up in the bed that had been set up. She was so angry. She knew this would happen but it still enraged her. Something deep in her knew something was wrong, and she wanted to do something about it.

"Dream!" Winter’s voice rang out. She didn’t know what she was doing, but she was going to do something.

"I want a rematch, same rules. You, versus me." Her voice was cold, yet full of emotion. Winter’s eyes bore a hole in Dream’s mask. How she wished she could wipe that stupid goddamn smile off that mask.

Wilbur was walking towards her, Tommy still panting in the bed. But Winter didn’t care. She just wanted to kill that bastard.

"Winter, think about what you're doing," Wilbur said, his voice lower than normal. Winter looked up at him, rage in her eyes.
