-[Prelude: The... what?]-
Asriel let out a sigh from his tired snout as he sat on his desk after having entered his college's classroom. As to be expected from one of the last days of classes before the holidays, almost no one had come to the lesson that day. Whether they were humans or monsters, out of all sixty students he was accustomed to seeing...
There were less than thirty.
Not that he was blaming them, of course, there was almost nothing to do and the vast majority wanted to finish the semester at once. Although most of them probably were bound to attend by the policies of their scholarships, or just appreciation.
His case was different.
Asgore and Toriel's son let out a small laugh as he saw a Peacock monster entering through the door, who's feathers were already quite faded due to his age. Doctor Murush was one of his favorite teachers, precisely because for someone like Asriel, he was extremely passionate about learning. An our and fifteen minutes from his teachings were like a tonic for his brain, always thirsty for knowledge.
The monster's tired eyes went from left to right, quickly counting the amount of students he had. Twenty-five, fifteen monsters and ten humans. Usually he would complain or call the absent ones a "bunch of ingrates", he wasn't the kind of man that would like to be the class's laughing stock, but today...
It was special.
A clear sign was that he immediately raised his tail, slightly showing some of the feathers that still had some colors.
"Alright... as a gift for those considerate enough to be here on my last lesson before your vacations, I'll teach you something that you'll never forget... probably."
His words were like honey, making more than one raise their eyebrow in curiosity. His gaze illuminated itself with passion, feeling the attention of his kids. He couldn't help but laugh a little bit, as he rested his weigh against his cane.
"Either that or you'll discard it immediately, I don't know... but if it intrigues you as much as me, I'm sure you'll be happy by the end of it all. Ehem... could anyone of you be kind enough to tell me when did Nerum Mashi died?"
More than one looked at each other with visible confusion, the prince of monsterkind closed his eyes, reminiscing his history classes. Nerum Mashi, one of the most important politicians in the history of the "Neo-Human/Monster alliance", one of the precursos that wanted to open up the barrier many years before Asriel had been born.
After all he was just a twenty years old.
He wasn't quick enough to answer, a female voice at his left spoke first.
"He died some years ago, two thousand and twelve I think?"
Murush's head nodded slightly, yet he didn't spoke. His gaze went once again, from left to right, he took his sweet time to look at the faces of his students, finding just what he was looking for. A puzzled look in the face of a human with black hair, that made him smirk.
